Australia's capital, Canberra, or ACT-Australian Capital Territory is very different from many other capital cities in the world.
London, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing are all metropolises, but Canberra was designed and constructed for the purpose of being a capital, not as the economic center.
Melbourne, Australia's second largest city once was Australia's capital city de facto, but Sydney also wanted to be the capital, and finally, a decision was made, to build a new city between these 2 cities, and the site was Canberra today.
Canberra is empty, especially on the south side of the manmade lake, in where the Australian Parliament House lies, walking in the streets, rare to see pedestrians. There are parks everywhere in Canberra, nice environment

the City (Australian way of calling downtown, our whole country is downunder, so all our towns are downunder, all towns here can be called downtowns) is on the north bank of the manmade lake, which several highrises, some hotels are high, the City area is at most 4 sq.km
