Brisbane Hotels from http://www.wotif.com/search/Advanced?region=11&stlcmpid=16017&utm_id=2

Marriott, Riverview, Conrad Treasury, Emporium, Hilton, Sebel, Sofitel, Stamford Plaza, Chifley at Lennons, Grand Chancellor, Holiday Inn, Carlton Crest, Mercure, Novotel, Royal on the Park, Rydges, Manor Apartment Hotel, Astor, Riverside, Watermark, Travelodge (Garden City), and other smaller ones not worthy of mention on this forum.
I read an article the other day that said the Emporium Hotel was one of only 3 hotels in the whole of the Asia/Pacific rated as one of the best in the world. I'll try and find it.
harryT has killed off any chances of large hotels in sydney. he builds serviced apartments and offers cheap deals.
Quite a few hotel u/c, approved and proposed for Adelaide at the moment - such as Crowne Plaza, Old Westpac building, CM building, 20lv+ hotel on Hindley Street etc.
A lot going up in Melbourne because of the convention centre and docklands: Hilton (6 star), third Crown Casino tower (4.5 star, 600 rooms), docklands Travelodge, Telstra Dome stadium precinct (SESP, and Quest at Lacross), new one on western flinders street, and that's just the CBD.
^so only the one on flinders street in the actual CBD?
close enough :D
Honestly, I don't think of the CBA as only Hoddle Grid anymore. The CBD for me includes Southbank and Docklands. But not St Kilda Rd. But yes, that's another discussion......
From 'The West'

'...with Brisbane ranked 4th, Melbourne 9th, Sydney 13th, Adelaide 14th and Cairns 17th'
What do those ranking reffer to?
Hotel Occupancy Rates as a %.

A while ago Brisbane was second in the world after Kuwait City.

J
Hotel occupancy rates.

I find it worrying that of all the capital city markets Perth has the highest occupancy but the lowest number of hotels under construction or proposed.

Brisbane was in the same boat about 2 years ago. Now we have Westin proposed as well as many others. Its all happened just recently.

Perth will follow.

new hotel at the abc studio in east perth? ;)

I thought both the 3rd Crown and the 3rd Hilton would both be 5 star. (Note there is no such thing as 6 star officially in Australia...)
Crown's third hotel is 4.5 star, it will mainly be used to lure delegates from the convention center next door. Crown Tower will still remain the premium 5 star hotel (or 6 star as it what it promote itself as)
the hotel market in perth is fucked with a capital 'F'. No one wants to build a new, large hotel given the tightness of the resi and commercial market.
A new hotel plan will be released for the old treasury buildings in Perth on June 24

Will be 5 star min.
3
Crown Towers.

Grand Hyatt.

Hotel Windsor.
