Sorry I do not get it. What is the speed limit got to do with the fee collection system or the digitalization of the motorways?
(Or rather you just wanted to express your general dislike towards Hungary? Then OK I got it.)

Still do not see what all this has to do with the Croatian toll collecting system.

But Ok, let's see:

Guess what! We built it for Hungarians and for the Hungarian industry. And if we Hungarian tax payers like it this way then I do not see what complains you can have about it. I for one do not give a damn shit about the EU and the flow of goods (I do care about you guys, however, and all the neighbours). If it is safer this way than let it be.

And just to pin it down: limits for coaches is 100 km/h and only for the public transportation buses it is limited to 80 km/h.

Besides, have you ever travelled on Swedish motorways? Imagine those idiots have 100-110 km/h limits almost on all roads (better than our motorways) for everyone, not only trucks and buses. Those idiots sitting in Volvos and Saabs, the safest cars of the globe cannot travel faster than 110 km/h on actually empty motorways! Up until 1995 it was even 90 km/h on motorways for passenger cars!

You may add one more complain to your list: TRUCKS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OVERTAKE on Hungarian motorways! The horror, the horror! (I for one bless this decision)

But I stop arguing as you have obviously a political agenda here (isolation and other bullshits).

But let me give you one advice: if you do not like us, do not come. Simple.

You all others, of course, are most welcome.

I fully acknowledge your arguments, and I think you're right (on a grand level), except:

- EU is what is currently the reason for your GDP growth (same as ours) - trust me, you wouldn't really like to see what would happen to Hungary, Croatia etc. if the single market stopped working.

As for the speed limits - Sweden has low speed limits for the same reason as Norway: because they have winter driving conditions there for more than a half a year. And in the summer they all drive 10-20km/h above the speed limit (outside populated areas) - its tolerated.

The problem here is that, according to what you said, Hungarian police is ticketing Croatian coaches as if they were your public transport buses, which is illegal - so it kind of brings out the question of trust in your legal system and discrimination...

Thank you for your sensible and intelligent reply.

- GDP growth: I do not know about you but I would rather stay poor but independent. I try to teach my kids not to worship money and keep to their principles. If it earns money for them good, if not then also good. I do not do anything for money (and of course I always ask for money for what I do - so I live rather well and keep my integrity too). I am happy if my country follows the same principle. If it leads to quitting the EU then very well then. (I hope not).
- Swedish speed limits: I am often around Malmö. Well, there is no real winter there but the speed limits are the same as I described before. I did not see that speeding (even with 10-20 km/h) is tolerated. Everyone keeps the limits.
-Croatian coaches: I do not know about this problem, I do not drive buses. I will try to get this information, but I trust there is a reason behind it (eg. safety or environmental issues).
- general attitude: I sense a deeper "Eastern Bloc" mentality issue here based on the comments above: general mistrust in governments/officials (his/her own government included), a paranoia when neighboring nations are concerned (they are hungint down Croatians: you can find the same comments on Hungarian forums re. Croatian police and Hungarian holiday makers). If these people meet with stringent rules in "Western" countries they just bow their heads and it does not even occur to them to question the rules, they just accept them as normal. If a strict rule is applied over here, they cry out loud: how dare you! You idiot!

Sorry for digressing.

http://www.glas-slavonije.hr/320959/4/Slavonika-u-ukupnom-prometu-sudjeluje-s-manje-od-dva-posto
