The local football club, US Avellino, has presented the feasibility study for the construction of the "Nuovo Stadio Partenio-Lombardi". The new sports facility will replace the current municipal stadium. Project designer is architect Gino Zavanella.

"It is not just a presentation, but today the project is presented and registered. I am really satisfied. We are talking about a 21,500-seats-stadium, covered with a roof. An UEFA Category 4 stadium which will also be able to host international matches" said Zavanella.

"We used a height difference of eleven meters between the south and north elevation to integrate it into the city, in a highly naturalistic environment, to preserve the view of Montevergine. The stadium will open to the city and to the citizens with 20,000 square meters of services available to the city, seven days a week: gyms, neighborhood activities, shops, interactive museum, offices, congress halls and restaurants".

"The stadium was born with the city and for the city, with the widespread use of greenery. Outside two large screens will work 24 hours a day to continuously inform the city. It will be a stadium on various levels. There will be no architectural barriers to reach and leave the stadium in maximum safety. In less than eight minutes. The stadium will allow the spectator to go there not only for the match, but for the whole day and is designed for mobility with ample parking spaces for over 2,000 cars. We will preserve the monument in memory of the fallen of Heysel" said Zavanella.

It would require 60 million euros to build the stadium:
30% Gruppo D'Agostino (current club's owner); 70% Italian Institute for Sports Credit.

"We'll show other clubs how things can be done. US Avellino will become the first club in Campania region to have its new stadium" says US Avellino President Angelo Antonio D'Agostino.

The project was officially presented to press only three weeks ago, but it has already started the bureaucratic process that will lead towards the construction of the new stadium. Local television, Prima TV, reports there has been a meeting between the Municipality, architect Gino Zavanella (stadium designer), and representatives of the football club. All the papers will be delivered by May 17 to begin the "Conferenza dei Servizi".

The architect pointed out that this will be a totally 'green' project, with the increase of green areas by about 6 times compared to the current situation, redeveloping an entire area also with the use of renewable energy sources. President D'Agostino will deal directly with the request to the Istituto Italiano per il Credito Sportivo (a public bank serving the country with the aim to support sport and culture, and which grants money to solid projects) of the 70% of the amount necessary to finance the sports venue, providing the appropriate guarantees. The rest will be financed directly by President D'Agostino, club's owner.

US Avellino President Angelo Antonio D'Agostino and his staff are working on the "Conferenza dei Servizi" which aims to facilitate the acquisition by the public administration of authorizations, deeds, licenses, and so on by calling collegial meetings aimed at issuing an administrative provision. Once the project is approved D'Agostino will start with the work. D'Agostino hopes to begin construction works in summer 2022, with completion in 2024.
