Doha: Shaheen Air International (SAI), Pakistan's private airline will soon launch a new flight for Lahore from Doha.
This was announced by the SAI's executive director, Air Commodore (retd) M Tariq Shahab, a press release said.
SAI commenced its operations in Pakistan in 1993 under the aegis of Shaheen Foundation, a welfare trust of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel. SAI is the first private carrier of Pakistan which was honoured with the title of country's second national carrier.
Last year, it was taken over by a private company, Tava International Inc, owned by Khalid Sehbai, a Canada-based Pakistani entrepreneur, who is an ex-PAF officer and currently SAI's chairman of board of directors. SAI operates more than 30-flight-a-week to 10 domestic and six international destinations in the Gulf. Shahab, who arrived here on a familiarisation trip alongwith regional director, Air Commodore (retd) Khalid Bashir, said the proposal to start a direct flight for Lahore was put forward by community members during their current visit.
