LOL it's not THAT type of arena. That's what I thought at first too when I saw the thread but then I saw the pics.... it's pretty much gonna be only for sports I reckon.

We do need a HUGE 'Baghdad Arena' though where they can hold concerts and events and shows...etc. Hope they build one soon.

if it has the potential to host la6ama and mawakib then will be constructed ASAP... if not, then you will be seeing some nice renders for an INSHALLAH project.

اشاد وزير الشباب والرياضة المهندس جاسم محمد جعفر بمراحل انجاز القاعة المغلقة سعة 7 آلاف متفرج في المدينة الشبابية في شارع فلسطين .

جاء ذلك خلال تفقد السيد الوزير المشروع الاستراتيجي والذي تنفذه احدى الشركات العراقية حيث استمع الى شرح مفصل عن سير العمل ونسب الانجاز والمعوقات والصعوبات التي قد تؤثر على توقيتات انجاز العمل الذي يسير وفق المخطط المرسوم له حيث من المؤمل تسليم القاعة النموذجية نهاية عام 2013 .وقال السيد الوزير ان القاعة المغلقة تعد الاولى في العراق من حيث النوعية وان العمل جيد وسريع ونامل ان تكون الانهاءات بهذه الروحية حيث نلمس السرعة في الاداء لاسيما في المراحل الاولى التي تشمل صب الركائز الكونكريتية والاسس وهناك تقدم بنحو 4 % مما مخطط له وهو مايجعلنا نطمئن على هذا المشروع الذي يشرف عليه مكتب استشاري تركي .واضاف ان الوزارة لديها مشاريع كبيرة ومميزة غير ان القاعة المغلقة تعد من الاضافات المهمة على البنى التحتية وهي مطابقة للشروط الدولية وستكون جاهزة لاستقبال المنافسات المحلية والعربية والقارية والدولية مبينا ان ارتفاع سقف الهيكل الى نحو 80 مترا يعطيها مكانة مميزة على قدرة العقل العراقي في مقارعة التحديات التي تقف امامه فضلا على رونقها الجميل وهي تنظم الى المشاريع الكثيرة التي تشرف عليها وزارة الشباب والرياضة وابرزها المدن الرياضية والملاعب الاولمبية سعة 30 الف متفرج في كل محافظات العراق .واعطى السيد الوزير ملاحظاته على سير العمل في المشروع بجميع مراحله ، ووجوب الاسراع في انهاء المشروع في المواعيد المحددة مع دقة التنفيذ وجودته بما يتوافق مع المواصفات الهندسية . 40% نسبة الانجازكشف مدير مشروع القاعة المغلقة 7 آلاف متفرج المهندس صلاح حسين ان نسبة الانجاز وصلت الى 40 % وان العمل في المشروع ابتدا في الـ13 من شهر نيسان 2011 ، وسينتهي في الـ13 من شهر تشرين الاول 2013 ، وينفذ المشروع على مساحة 50 الف متر مربع ، من بينها 13 الف متر مربع للقاعة المغلقة .واضاف حسين ان القاعة هي الاولى التي تنفذ في العراق وتتكون من محيط كامل من المدرجات بسعة 7 الاف متفرج فضلا على المنازع وغرف التدريب وقاعات للاسكواش وكرة المنضدة ، والفضاءات الادارية والكافتريات وقاعات الاجتماعات وقاعات لكبار الضيوف والمساحات الخضراء ومرائب للسيارات تستوعب 700 عجلة ، وسيتم تجهيزها باحدث انظمة الانارة والتي تكون مطابقة للمواصفات العالمية مشيرا الى ان معظم المواد التي تدخل في الاعمال التكميلية يكون منشؤها من القارة الاوربية .واوضح ان العمل لم يواجه صعوبات تؤثر في الانجاز ، وقد انتهينا من اعمال الهيكل الكونكريتي وصب الاسس والركائز وجزء من الاعمال الميكانيكية والكهربائية فضلا على تهيئة اعمال التغليف والهيكل .
