the regent site seems to be a work in progress, how did you get hold of the link?
I recently heard that a foreign pilot was fired from united because he refused to fly the md80's - due to its horrible condition... can anyone confirm the news?
I don't know what this guy was on about. The MD's of United is what you would expect from a 18+ years old aircraft. In face, it is one of the better MD's in Bangladesh.

When an enployee can not fullfill his job description, there is only one thing to say "Bye Bye"

If I am not mistaken, you are refering to the very overweight ex Brazil airforce gentelman. He is a very funny guy, I once traveled with him from London to Dubai. He flerts a lot with the cabin crew, like I said, a very funny guy.

through many other links :)
Just kidding, someone gave me the link to the official Regent page in Facebook. I found it there.
It looks really nice. If they can control all those facilities they are offering, this will be the best website by any Bangladeshi company

it's a classic clash between flightdeck crew & management. i had two safety modules at uni and have been taught to carry out a full inspection by engineers before dispatch, if crew complains about aircraft condition. we have done case studies related to this matter, it happens everywhere!

i've clicked on the news & this came up:

and they did not mention it's in beta stage or non-operational, on the homepage. how professional is that for an airline?

looks in beta stage and the facebook link is not to flyregent.com its to an IP number.

Note that this far from being "soft" launch of their website, let alone any official announcement, since site is not reachable by their url yet (you have to use the ip address). Obviously, a work in progress.
.....

They better hustle, far it is far from being complete, if they launch of the website is to coincide with the official launch of the airline. I'm skeptical though, given the deadline.

Don't know about being the best Bangladeshi website. We'll see.

Both AA and DL have a very large fleet of MDs. It is hardly tell that most of them are 18/20 years old, from the way they appear, both the cockpit and cabin. Very clean, well maintained, nothing broken or inoperative.

The employer will always have the last word barring any gross violation of rules, regulations or (employee) rights.

As long as his can pass the bi-annual physical and keep his license, being overweight hardly has any bearing.

Any controversy about safety could very well be avoided or become a non issue if only CAAB did its job.
Has any one heard of BCT or AVOLON aircraft maintenance at Dhaka airport. They provide line/base maintenance

does any Bd airlines use them?

Don't quote me on it, but I thought Imran Asif used to own such an outfit. You may want to inquire with him.

Well i think we know one thing about Regent by now,
The one thing that regent will never do is "hustle" :)
Tawhid vai,

If Biman charge me 1000US$ for JFK then it is be costly than the Qatar airways.
Because we got whole price including tax- it is 870 Dollar from any travel agent.
And their service is nice.
Etihad charge us 1070 including tax. Etihad's time is awesome. The never late for 10 Min (I can't say your experience, but I found it very nice).

All of them allow two bags.

What will be Biman's service ??? What will be their charge.

What is the procure mean. Purchase or dry lease.
The person who uploaded the Regent link on facebook is purporting to be the designer of the website. The links been om there for 2 weeks and no one noticed!

The site looks content rich and the blog will be a departure from traditional airline websites and be of interest to a sizable crowd if its updated well enough.

I'm not too hot on the rendering of the white background. The Regent logo box clearly looks like its been cut and pasted, unlike the logo on say GMG's website thats seems flush with with the background.
Nice touch with the artwork but again the images could look a little less cut and pastey imo. I suppose by using so much white it draws out the demarcations more.

The transition time of the mosaic on the main picture frame seems a little quick to be able to read all of the information , although I do see a pause button. Apart from the Jessore page, the writing is not aligned also. Work in progress for sure but when finished should ruffle a few neighbourhood feathers.

Mr. Galive

I'd appreciate if you could send me the name and telephone number of your travel agent, if they are in the US, for the lowest fare on the web for December is $1259 (including tax), for JFK-DAC, as of today (12/04/2010).

All airlines allow two pieces of checked baggage per US air carrier rules, for free on international routes. These days though, the weight limit has been decreased to 20kg/bag. In the good old days the limit was 30kg and even then most airlines hardly enforced the weight limit.
