Did somebody watch Bassmat El Watan on LBCI tonight (22/08/08)?
The last sketch with an impersonation of MP Mohammed Raad trying to open a green package was censored so were the lyrics in the final song.
If somebody ends up learning what was censored please do share!

what?! thats so stupid. i thought - and was proud - that lebanon wasnt censored...thats really sad.

Well actually there is a censorship office at the General Security Directorate.
They check all cultural documents that come to Lebanon through mail (CD's, DVD's, Magazines,Books etc...) and they decide whether movies externally and locally produced TV shows should be shown or not.

Last month the censorship office had banned "Persepolis" before the culture minister intervened and canceled that decision.

well yea, i knew about the persepolis issue, and after the banning decision was lifted, i felt really happy, that maybe its time to open up and give the people complete freedom, however after reading you're first post, all that hope if gone

I didnt watch the last sketch ... but i can assure u that in politics censorship is at it's lowest .. so i highly doubt that, i dunno y u r so sure .. maybe it was an individual change du to the change in the situation but i could be wrong :|

Oh and if something was censored in favor of a political group the other one wouldnt keep silence trust me neither would the basatwatan crew .... if we dont have freedom of speech here in Lebanon we have Nothing (well just dont talk about Nasrallah

maybe self censorship since people are trying hard to forgive and forget and just live in the moment ... but media censorship is still sticky since the burning of future, so I doubt it's by the government
