The planned Begin highway covering looks really good. How much of this plan will actually come to fruition? That's another story... Still, it's interesting to look at the proposal.
I find it hard to believe this will ever happen.
Whats the justification for this project anyway?
I know why they want to do it with Ayalon in Tel Aivv, but whats Jerusalem's excuse?
The justification is clear, to create an additional space (or to restore the space "stolen" by the road), and to use it as a park.
Of course it costs a lot of money, but if it is technically feasible, why not?
I don't think it will happen.
There are many justifications for Ayalon covering - it's in a middle of a massive CBD surrounded by tall towers,
very crowded and will only get more crowded in coming years,
it's a national transportation hub, there isn't much vacant space and the real-estate is VERY expensive.
You can't say most of this on that section of Begin road.
