Completion of NS tunnel by Helen

Delay in NS UG section is because of technical difficulties faced by TBMs and some poor planning only. I dont think either labour force or their pay scale is in any way related to this delay.
Okay, but Godavari's progress is very slow on North side. What happened to Helen /Margarita that completed EW sections? Shipped out?
Wanted to post this long back, but was tied up with work:

There is one file in the RTI page of BMRC website with the below description -
"BOARD COMMITTEE TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE OF ENTRUSTING THE SOUTHBOUND TUNNEL WORK, TO THE UG-2 CONTRACTOR (CEC-SOMA)"

This file was opened on 23-12-2013

My inference is - Within 6 months of commencement of Godavari (May 13), BMRC have decided that its going to create a problem & won't bore as per project plan. They have initiated action quite swiftly by discussing the alternate proposal at board level. We don't know the current status of this proposal but desperately hope that it is passed & some action on ground is seen soon.

On hindsight, its good to see that this proposal was discussed in this thread.

Also looks like the 'Chief Intelligence Officer' of this thread a.k.a Maddyvoldy is on RED ALERT to post any hint of positive news on this:cheers:. I hope we seen Helen's cabaret soon.

GO FOR IT, BRING BACK HELEN AND FINISH THE NW-SSW TUNNEL QUICKLY.
If not for this, even March 2016 will be difficult to achieve for phase 1 completion.

Cubbon Road Station
Great shot. BTW, I was passing by dist court & stopped to take a look at Central college station. Pillars have started sprouting up in all four corners. They are two floors high already & one of the entrances is within the dist court itself! So, at three stations (Minsk, Vidhana Soudha & Central college), there are direct accesses to large activity centers & one does not need to reach street first & then enter the compound!!!. Sorry, but left my mobile in the car, so could not take any pictures.

Great that BMRC is doing so much with commuters in mind. Wonder if any private entity would ever think along these lines.

With tunnel boring still not completed, I have lost hope that the underground sections will be operational before 2016. Now I hope that Phase I will be completed before the end of 2016.

Yesterday, in Singapore, tunnel boring was completed for Stage 2 of the Downtown Line, which is now scheduled to become operational in mid-2016 -- two years after the completion of tunnel boring. I cannot think of any reason why progress would suddenly be faster in Bangalore than in Singapore, since it has not been in the past.

ADB loan documents

Found some documents pertaining to sanction of the Rs.1250 crore ADB loan to BMRC thru non-sovereign route.
People here may note that it was the first for any metro corp in India to get such a loan. Preceding metro projects were funded fully by govt and govt-guaranteed loans.

Felt the docs are worth a quick glance-

http://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/projdocs/2011/43912-01-ind-rrp.pdf

http://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/projdocs/2010/43912-01-ind-dmf-draft.pdf

Quoting the purpose of the loan which I felt is good to know:
The focus is on creating a commercially viable and bankable project that can successfully attract commercial debt, and which holds the potential for future wider private sector participation. The project structure, which uses sovereign loans and support to leverage commercial lending, creates a self-sustaining model for financing urban transport projects. These projects are typically amongst the most difficult infrastructure projects to finance, and are the ones which least lend themselves to up front private sector participation. The public sector approach, with private sector structures and discipline and possible future private sector direct participation, is viewed as the best model for this sector at this stage of development in India. It is also one which should help catalyze commercial debt and private sector participation on a much wider basis across the country in future.

Unlike the Delhi metro that is fully funded by government equity and sovereign guaranteed debt, the national and state governments decided to create a new financing model for the project which would only partly rely on government funds (through a mix of government equity, government subordinated debt, and onlending from the national government of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) official development assistance (ODA) loan, and leverage these so as to also raise commercial debt from banks and/or private financing sources. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), through a number of technical assistance programs has been assisting the national government since 2007 in developing bankable infrastructure project models able to access new financing sources without recourse to sovereign government guarantees, whether through commercial nonrecourse debt or public–private partnerships (PPPs). The possible use of ADB’s new lending modalities, i.e., nonsovereign public sector loans, was a factor in this structuring decision.

Cygnus, some info what I know about it:-

Its called "Google See Inside"

In the following link, a professional photographer with google explains it. Tripods are kept at multiple points to cover each corner with more details depending on requirements, later, its blurred.
Google Street View Inside the Tested Office!

The merging part was technical, i dint understand how it happens.

More details
Thanks again. I heard that the new Apple mobile (if I remember correct) has panoramic photo capability though it is something like up to 180deg & not 360deg.
