Introduction:
In ancient times, fountains served as places to get water for city dwellers. Today, fountains are mostly used for beautification in our squares and plazas, and can become tourist spots in themselves.

In this thread, we will nominate our fountains.

Nominating Guidelines:
  1. Note: It doesn't necessarily need to be one certain fountain. As long as the fountains are a "series" (close to each other, same features, etc) they can be nominated together.
  2. Make sure to include the official name of the nomination, as well as where it is located - city, and country.
  3. All nominations require pictures to accompany them. Post pictures only, not links to websites with pictures. Post only the best pictures that represent your nomination accurately, and in the best way possible. Avoid posting large pictures or panoramas, instead include links to them.
  4. Only two (2) nominees per country are allowed. Therefore, choose only the most distinctive, exceptional nominees. Basically, the best in the country! It's a good idea to discuss the nominations with your fellow countrymen, and posters, so that everyone comes to an agreement about what should be nominated. If more nominees are posted per country, only the first two will be considered.
  5. Since there are only 15 spots on the poll, the first 15 valid nominations will be submitted. To avoid disappointment, post your nominations as early as possible. To make sure that your nominations are not late, you can even post the nomination without any pictures first, and edit your post later. Another suggestion is to edit your old posts, instead of creating new posts, so you can keep your original position.
  6. The guidelines are here to make sure that everyone enjoys this installation, while keeping it fair - please follow them.
  7. Enjoy! :)

^ The water pours out of channels on every side. It is a fountain, unless we're judging the water patterns or something?

I don't really like the huge fountains. Sebilj Fountain is just great. :) I love the design, especially it's age. I personally think every one of these "small" little things in Sarajevo are what really makes it feel "comfortable".

Great picture Mila. :)

BTW, guys, please clearly state what you will nominate, and don't forget the city and country. Otherwise, we might mistake it for just showing some pictures. KM, I'm assuming you're not nominating that "jet stream", could you remove it before next Sunday please? :)

Nomination for Prague: Krizikova fontana

It was built on the occasion of the Jubilee Exhibition in 1891 and its today's image results from the reconstruction realized 100 year later.

The Krizik Fountain is without a doubt a unique creation in Europe. Its performance is operated by water running through a complex system of many water channels, the operation uses 50 pumps and 3000 jets. The color effects are combined with the music of classical and modern composers, including Rusalka (water nymph) by A. Dvorak, Swan Lake by P.I. Tchaikovsky and 1492-Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis

The colour effects are created by 1248 underwater multicolour lights, being able to perform a wide volume of 1650 meters of water. Further on, another sight are the distributing stainless pipes with length more than 2 km and the length of cables which is 110 km. The sounding is ensured by means of 55 electroacoustic amplifiers. The fountain program is controlled by computer.
