Molineux is that good that they want to demolish it and build a better new one on the outskirts of the city.

Dudley Zoo was good once upon a time, now it's very low-rate although they are planning on doing it up and expanding. I wonder when the last time you went was!

Oh isn't it a beautiful, yet modern building? :mad2:

Anyone else want to add a football ground as being the best thing about the West Midlands?? I think I'd nominate Gornal Athletic's gound - my local football team - or maybe the Dell in Brierley Hill. :sleepy:

Yeah I'm sure eventually there'll be somebody from Walsall who will say that Bescot Stadium is the best thing about the West Midlands. This is called local pride gone obsessive.

The most cosmopolitain city outside London - great diverse mix of cultures, I cant believe more people haven't mentioned this. I used to live in Milan, which is about 5 percent as mixed as Brum, and that brought home to me how much more interesting cities are with a diverse, cosmopolitan mix

The people
Humour
Regeneration since mid 80s
Selfridges building
Birmingham feels like a proper, big city
The sheer huge, urban sprawl of the surrounding urban region
Posh houses in Solihull.
Warwickshire countryside

- Laid back easy going mentality with a sense of proportion - a place where people take the piss out of themselves as well as other people and can go "ah **** it" when needed.

- Amazing cosmopolitan cultural energy (that, notwithstanding Lozells last summer, works pretty well most of the time because of the above mentioned easygoingness)

- Trees, trees, trees, trees, trees, trees ...

- Great vernacular architecture even in the most unexpected places - stunning Venetian gothic details on backstreet terraces in Alum Rock etc

- A much more distinctive cultural tradition than it's given credit for

- Hectic energy - always full of people doing things and going places.

- My Uncle Arthur. Top bloke.
