I think the gothic ones look crap. More like 'faux gothic' than 'gothic revival'. Manchester's and Bradford's are pretty much the same thing, except Bradford's has an interesting clock tower. The Leeds one just looks ridiculous and over the top, and has low quality, eroded stone with poor detailing. Sheffield's is boring, sort of like a big house.

My favourites are Newcastle's and Liverpool's. The former is absolutely stunning 1950s modernism, very high quality post war buildings. The latter is a lovely 18th century building, built in the paladian style - not especially big, but just fantastic.

It provided the inspiration for Australia's parliament, Durban, Bolton and Morley town halls. Can't be that bad. (in fact it uses different stone for different bits)
