Agreed, the open lattice at the top looks terrible.
that's the most realistic depiction i've ever seen of what the freedom tower's lattice will look like...

and it sucks outright!!! *puke*

btw...i can see 1 worldwide plaza's roof!
The lattice really sucks.

But hey, did you guys notice how good that red building in the first pic looks? To be made out of legos, that detail is pretty damn good.

have everywhere the pictures from the TWIN TOWERS in a Legoland ?

in Germany stays Europe Buildings only :bash: :sleepy:
Absolutely terrible. Yuck.
savethewtc, did you take these photos? If so, why didn't you take any from further away.
Of course it's going to look hideous from close up . . . it's made of Legos for Christ's sake.

This shot makes it look ok
Still sucks, sorry - I love how at that angle, the tower looks 5 times fatter at the base than the top.
lego is vey hard to make at angles, its very good to say that they only have renderings to work from.

plus the real freedom tower WILL look like this from certain angles - very fat at the bottom and very thin at the top. its the nature of the shape.

Nah, I didn't take these photos, nowhere near California. You can only hope that the lattice portion is this visible if actually built.
Why does everybody hate the freedom tower so much? I think people forget that its suppose to be standing for something. Even if you do think it looks ugly it's what it represents that matters. I just get upset when people bash this design. It doesn't look ugly. If this tower was somewhere else everybody would be loving this tower. :(

But it is where it is, and therefore it is important that they get it right. You can't just place anything you want in such a site of importance. 1776 ft does not make this symbolic by any means. It's just forced symbolism for the papers to report in bold. Maybe this kind of weird design would work in another era or location, but not in NYC.
