Bradford Building Developments

No cranes in the sky anywhere in Bradford at the moment. with the Westfield disaster and the Odeon debacle we dont have any building projects of any significance ( unless your know better)

the only buildings under plan that I know of is the new bradford college and the flats about to start at the bottom of Manchester road.

what a poor time for developments no cranes, no jobs, no hope ??

please cheer me up :eek:hno:

Well Bradford College have applied for full planning permission to turn the former Markaz Restaurant and Shisha Lounge, in unit B of the banana building (Aldermanbury/Centenary Square) into a Commercial Training Facility. Better than being empty I suppose. Would have preferred a restaurant or bar to open up but at least it'll increase footfall a bit and have a good effect in summer months, working well with CityPark

Also the council have just refused a renewal pf planning permission for the Snowden Street, Trafalgar Street Car Park Development of Apartments.. All available to see on the Planning4Bradford website
Look at these plans:

William Hill have applied for signage for 7 Bank Street. So this means they'll have a branch just around the corner from their Broadway outlet? Unless the 2 are being joined up or 1 is relocating.

Either way, this is surely bad news!

I don't think it's better than an empty unit if it's long term, it is "giving up". A commercial training facility? Training in what? Why can't the trainees be trained in a low rent industrial unit on Bowling Back Lane? Are they public sector uber trainees?.

The unit is opposite the Town Hall and adjacent to a £30 million pond that was to "bring jobs and prosperity to Bradford by attracting visitors and investors, raising land and property values and help create the landscape for investment in the city centre" as well bringing in £80 million per annum (oh yes) and yet, a unit in this prime location cannot find a tenant?

Yeah i suppose your right. I would have hoped it to be short term. And not another bookies :-/ surely
Work has started on the flats/houses on the Longlands estate off Chain Street near Goitside. About time really. Quite a lot of activity in Bradford at the minute, with the old Provident HQ being stripped out and I believe turned into student accommodation
