Great pictures!

Let's see how long it takes before some brain-washed aussie starts mentioning favelas or rainforests.
Why do Brazillians constantly spam other subforums with pictures of their country? I don't ever see people form any other countries doing it, apart from jerseyboi of course.

Geeze this city seems rather so organized and well designed! Wish Australian cities are like that. But the concern is taking up too much land, causing environmental degradation.
Nice pictures. Brasilia seems like a larger version of Canberra, but with more interesting architecture.

Thanks for your comment

And with a rail network too!

Great pictures there... Canberra is I think about 20-30 years older in relation to when it was first established, but there are definitely parallels, particularly with the lake in the middle.

EDIT: 47 years actually... Brasilia 1960, Canberra 1913.
Metro system

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! :) Interesting city and it does indeed remind me of Canberra, however as mentioned Canberra doesn't have a metro system. Public transport is not taken seriously enough in Australia.

i think Brasilia shows what Canberra could have been. Burley Griffins grand plan has been changed so much because he didn't really have anything to do with the implementation. As i understand it, Oscar Niemeyer was intimately involved with the plan (though he didn't design the layout) as well as the design of important buildings. The result is much more cohesive imo.

Interestingly, Wiki says Oscar Niemeyer is still alive and working at 104 years old!

But not anymore...
I love anything to do with Brazil and am always impressed with its cities. Today I changed my Facebook wallpaper to the Brazilian National Congress in Brasilia as a homage to the late Oscar Niemeyer who died today aged 104 :(

Believe me, you don't! ;)

Shame Brazilians themselves don't value their capital. A World Heritage Site, and yet Brazilians don't value it. :eek:hno:

Anyway, nice city! Brasilia is impressive, I'd like to go there someday.
