British Cities

This thread will be made up of a compilation of photographs of various British cities.

I see it as is a way of bringing together photographs from various threads in a more meaningful and coherent way. Some you may have seen before, but some will be new. I will add to the thread as and when I visit a new city.

The thread will start off with photographs from the cities of Glasgow, Newcastle ( upon Tyne), Manchester, Liverpool, & Chester.

Fabulous shots from Glasgow, Jane! Not a mediocre one among them! Here are four of my favourites, all entirely different in subject: #7.5, #8.1, #9.7, and #10.6. Really looking forward to more of this thread.

As a fan of British cities (and culture, and people, and pubs, and trains, and culture, and architecture, and food.... no, forget the food...) I will follow this new thread with interest and pleasure. Great you start with wonderful pictures of Glasgow, one of the cities we will visit next summer.

fantastic standard as always Jane, for some reason this one caught my eye, I think it's because the red building is very glaswegian whereas much of the rest of the more modern development could be many places, including the new world given the strong sense of 'block' - in fact that little view down to the river(?) in the background oddly reminds me of Seattle

Yes, there is something very American about that image. Of course, Glasgow is organised according to a grid pattern, so that may have a little something to do with it; but also the hilliness and the wide open space beyond is very Seattle. :)
