The order for 20 trams is an option on a framework contract that has so far seen the delivery of 29 trams to Brno.
CZECH REPUBLIC: Škoda Transportation has delivered the first two Elektra trams to Brno, with the remaining 18 to come by the end of the year.
The KC1·2bn order for five-section low-floor trams from Škoda’s 13T family was placed in December 2015 as an option on a framework agreement dating from 2006. The first of the new trams arrived at the Medlánky depot on July 14 and the second on July 20

Maybe somebody forgot something in this render: how does this single-ended Skoda 13T reverse if there's no turning loop at the terminus?!New, 900 m long tram branch will be built from current stop "Osová" to University Campus in Bohunice. New line will contain 650 m long tunnel, where will be also located one of total two planned stops. Construction is expected to cost 1,1 - 1,2 billions CZK and has to be completed in 2022.

I suppose that Brno has double-ended rolling stock, because Líšeň Mifkova has no turning loop.Maybe somebody forgot something in this render: how does this single-ended Skoda 13T reverse if there's no turning loop at the terminus?!
Is this terminus stubbed because it is temporary before a future extension and is the order for new trams siingle-ended in order to operate this line?
There is no extension planned, loop won't be built just due to lack of space. The line will be operated only by ČKD KT8 trams.Maybe somebody forgot something in this render: how does this single-ended Skoda 13T reverse if there's no turning loop at the terminus?!

These will be uni-directional.And if you read some posts above, you'll know that city is planning to buy new bidirectional rolling stock:

And another "mistake" in the render is, that 13 T have door on the right side, but platform is on the left side.

Except this, project for extension of trolleybus line from current stop "Novolíšeňská" to "Jírova" was today approved too.
One of the reasons is not to disturb occupants of the surrounding buildings... Also there is quite a lot sidewalks and roads that the rail would have to cross... Also, in the area between "U Penzionu" and "Jihlavská" streets is big development called "Západní Brána" (and unknown others) planned. I couldn't find any official reasons, but I think this is it.What is the reason the Osova branch line to be build underground? Just by looking in the map (and from video too) it seems that it would have been very easy to build it at grade without many difficulties for the other traffic. There must be some important reason for this expensive variant...
