Exactly. The city here just ceases to exist, and it's a very disheartening sight coming out of the bustling Northern Quarter and being confronted by the sheer absence of anything here. These apartments (and the people that will live in them) are very welcome, much like the ones on Chapel Street that everyone else also seems to hate.

These kind of basic apartment blocks are the kind of buildings that fill out many cities and capitals across Europe.

Much better than a ghost car park or a derelict site.

I really like these. They definitely help the vista looking up Oldham Street, which in the past was like looking out to the edge of the city. The road though is horrible and, like Great Ancoats Street, need desperately taming given the ongoing transformation of the area.
