It looks more like a denser commuter network than a real s-bahn or RER network. Commuter trains and IC trains are already crossing the city in tunnels. The major improvements they will make is doubling railway lines to increase capacity (a commuter train every 15 minutes) and they are building a new tunnel, linking the northern suburbs and airport directly with the EU-district.

New update

Inside Brussels, the STIB - MIVB company will modify his network in 2008. For more information Go to www.stib.be or www.mivb.be you fill find a topic concerning the organisation of the public transports in 2008. More metro station, new lines. It will be 6 metro lines. There will be connection between RER stations, railways stations and metro - tram network. The company hope to increase the number of passengers and his commercial efficiency. A great reform in the public transport in Brussels.

To be honnest... nowadays, it a pity to move in Brussels by transport public. I hope that the new project will open a new age of mobility in Brussels!!!
