With Tower, Novare To Join Buckhead Apartment Pipeline

The busybodies at Novare Group are tossing their hats in the race to build nearly 3,000 proposed apartments across Buckhead and Brookhaven. Novare, Batson-Cook Development Company and Ackerman & Co. are planning a 26-story tower called "SkyHouse Buckhead" on a site off Peachtree Road behind Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports

Novare Seeking To Tap InvestAtlanta Funds For Buckhead Tower

Novare is reportedly seeking a sizable chunk of Invest Atlanta cash to help build SkyHouse Buckhead. Up to $71.5 million in bonds could be issued to help fund the 362-unit high-rise and neighboring parking facility on Stratford Road, pending the ruling of a Fulton County judge. The city council shot down a similar request for the Elle apartment project, finding that no Buckhead development should be considered a "hardship project."

Have to agree with the Council on this one. The area isn't depressed or devoid of potential, so common financing options should still yield fair ROI. Nor is Novarre some novice company bereft of funds or loan know-how. That said, I don't blame them for asking, I just hope they don't get cranky when told "no."

Hope it's built eventually, as it appears a slightly above average addition to the Buckhead scene.

Work Begins On Latest Apartment Tower, SkyHouse Buckhead

December 31, 2013

It appears prep work has begun on the site destined to become SkyHouse Buckhead. Proposed in August for a lot tucked behind Maggiano's Little Italy at Peachtree and Stratford roads, the 26-story, 364-unit apartment tower would be the SkyHouse line's third in Atlanta. Attempts to confirm recent progress with developer Novare were unsuccessful, but fencing has indeed gone up at the Buckhead site in the last week or so. The tower, not far from the Buckhead MARTA station and adjacent to the pedestrian bridge over Ga. 400, has been pitched as a rental haven for Millenials and Generation Y folks that aren't looking to buy property just yet.

Snow’s gone, SkyHouse officially breaks ground in Buckhead

March 14 2014

The developers of SkyHouse Buckhead, who postponed their groundbreaking event on Jan. 30 due to “inclement weather,” officially kicked off construction of the 26-story, 362-unit apartment development with the turning of shovels of dirt on March 6.

Much like Jan. 30, the weather was cold and blustery, but there was no snow on the ground at the construction site on Stratford Road in Buckhead.

Inside Maggione’s restaurant for breakfast and the speeches, both the remarks and the temperature were warm for the 60 or so who attended—primarily members of the development and construction team and some civic leaders. But outside it was strictly overcoat weather.

There was much praise for longtime Buckhead Charles Ackerman who built the first suburban high-rise building in Buckhead, Tower Place 100, in 1973 and assembled 18 acres of prime real estate in the center of what is now Buckhead’s commercial center and home to its two major retail malls, Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.
