Ministro Pistarini International Airport | EZE

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional de Ezeiza "Ministro Pistarini") (IATA: EZE, ICAO: SAEZ) is located 22 km (14 mi) south-southwest of Buenos Aires or Capital Federal, the capital of Argentina. The airport covers an area of 3,475 ha (8,587 acres) and is operated by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A.
The airport is named after general and politician Juan Pistarini (1882-1956), but is more commonly known as Ezeiza International Airport because of its location in the city of Ezeiza in Greater Buenos Aires. It is the country's largest international airport and a hub for the international routes of Aerolíneas Argentinas. The first civilian flight from what is now London Heathrow Airport flew to Ministro Pistarini International Airport in 1946.
This airport was built between 1945 and 1949; at the time, it was the largest one in Latin America and the only one with three runways, forming an A. That means: three crossed runways (05/23, 11/29 and 17/35), forming three 60° angles. In 1997, RWY 05/23 was closed and now it is used for large aircraft (such as the Airbus A340 or Boeing 747) for parking while cleaning and refueling.
This airport is collecting an Airport Improvement Fee of 29 USD as of September 7, 2009, payable before any international departure.
In 2008, the airport handled 8,012,794 passengers, with 205.506 tons of cargo and 71,037 aircraft movements.

Only 12. But it will have 20 when the project in execution ends:

Remember this is an airport with about 95% of Its flights international. National and regional flights are operated from AEP (I'll make a thread of It soon)

Qatar Airways Announces June 24 Launch Date For New South American Flights

Airline Prepares For Services To Brazil And Argentina

Sao Paulo And Buenos Aires To Be Served Daily From Doha
Routes Operated With Brand New Boeing 777-200 Long Range Aircraft

29 March 2010

Qatar Airways will fly daily to Sao Paulo, Brazil

Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways today announced that it will begin daily flights to Brazil and Argentina from June 24, marking the airline’s first online operations to South America.

With the airline’s acquisition of two brand new Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft in the last three months, these will be deployed on the two South American routes – to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo and Argentine capital Buenos Aires this summer.

The date announcement comes just weeks after the airline revealed plans to serve South America, and spread its wings to yet another Continent. The flights will offer convenient connections from key markets across Asia and the Gulf to South America.

Flight QR921 will depart Doha International Airport daily at 0740 hrs, arriving in Sao Paulo at 1600 hrs. The flight continues onto Buenos Aires, arriving at 2005 hrs. Return flight QR922 departs daily from Buenos Aires at 2305 hrs to Sao Paulo before continuing its journey at 0310 hrs the next day, arriving in Doha at 2310 hrs.

Qatar Airways will fly daily to Buenos Aires, Argentina

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said that adding destinations in South America to the network was a great achievement for the young airline.

“We have experienced incredible expansion over the years and by soon adding Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires to our growing network, we can proudly say Qatar Airways is a truly international airline,” said Al Baker.

Flights to Sao Paulo will be operated daily non-stop from the airline’s hub in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. The aircraft will then continue onto Buenos Aires. Qatar Airways will be the only Five Star ranked airline operating daily to South America with the launch of the new flights.

The airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 777-200 Long Range aircraft featuring Business Class seats that convert into 180 degree fully flat horizontal beds, will be deployed on the South American flights.

The aircraft features a total of 259 seats – 42 seats in Business Class in a 2–2–2 configuration and 217 seats in Economy in a 3–3–3 layout offering maximum space and comfort.

The aircraft is designed to operate on ultra-long routes of up to 17 hours non-stop. It already serves Houston and Melbourne, non-stop from Doha.

Added Al Baker: “We have seven new routes lined up during the first six months of 2010, and the airline plans to open up even more routes within the next 12 months as our growth strategy continues to evolve.

“The airline is receiving on average one new aircraft a month, allowing us to concentrate on enhancing our existing services, as well as opening up new routes. It’s a very exciting time for Qatar Airways.”

Qatar Airways recently launched daily flights to the southern Indian city of Bengaluru (Bangalore). Copenhagen joins the network from March 30. Flights to Ankara begin on April 5; Tokyo starts on April 26; and Barcelona from June 7.

AA to add additional flights between Miami and Buenos Aires as tourism explodes.

American Airlines announced today that it will start a new seasonal flight between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new flight will operate four times a week, from July 2 through Aug. 23, 2010, subject to government approvals.

American, a founding member of the global oneworld Alliance, will fly the new route with its 247-seat, three-class Boeing 777-200 aircraft, which features 16 seats in First Class, 37 seats in Business Class, and 194 seats in Economy. American flies all routes to Argentina on its B777-200 aircraft.

Peter Dolara, American’s Senior Vice President said “As we celebrate 20 years of service to Buenos Aires, we are delighted to offer this new flight during the high season.” Adding “Argentina offers our customers looking for a South American vacation a rich and unique cultural experience. Known for being an important financial centre, Buenos Aires is also a popular destination for our business travellers.

As a result of this tourism serge investors in buy to let real estate should see growing demand for rental properties within the capital and should expect their investments to yield well over the foreseeable future.

Caspar Chittenden.

How is transit to the airport from Buenos Aires city? When I was there in December 2001, we took a train from Constiticion to Ezeiza suburb, then a local bus. A local passenger on the train said that this may have been a foolish idea, due to crime, as not many tourists / travellers come this way. We were fine in the end!

I think it is great... there is a huge free way that conects Buenos Aires to Ezeiza. Only ne time i got stuck in a traffic jam but just because some people were blocking the road as a protest.

Traffic is regular... as every big city

I wouldnt choose the option by train as its longer and may be dangerous, but for sure by bus (i wouldnt take a cab either from the airport, unless you call one ''radio taxi'')

Check on Google Maps to get an idea of the closest route

Saludos!
