Former Nagoya Subway Series 5000, built between 1980 and 1990. Some trainsets still run in Higashiyama Line.

There's not the first time that Subte buy second-hand trains from Nagoya Subway.

ARGENTINA: By means of a resolution published on March 2, Minister of the Interior & Transport Florencio Randazzo has instructed federal railway operating company SOFSE to take direct charge of the Mitre, San Martín, Roca and Belgrano Sur commuter networks in Buenos Aires, rescinding operating agreements signed on February 10 2014.

Since last year the Mitre and San Martín networks have been operated by Corredores Ferroviarios SA, part of the Metrovías group. Argentren SA, part of Ferrovías, has been responsible for Roca and Belgrano Sur services

The 3rd rail exist since 1900 and the catenary 25 kv. ac. since 1985 (new electrification especifications: All new electrification in train lines of Argentina will be 25 kv. ac. catenary)

The old toshibas trains (1985) will have a general renovation probably.

It looks like these trains lack couplers... or are they hidden? Is multiple unit operation considered?

They are hidden, the couplers are AAR. The operation aparently will be to two DMUs in multiple unit operation (4 coachs).
