everytime I tour the city, I get weak in the knees at the sight of such wonderful architecture and neighborhoods.

There is no other city in my mind that can compete with Buffalo in terms of Big City and small city balance of good people, great buildings and tremendous assets within.

Steel, Buffalo is a great place...these photos tell a great story.

Buffalo has many very nice homes, you have to admit it, the architecture and neighborhoods make Buffalo kind of ritzy. :)
As to the question at the top of the thread.... after seeing these pictures, everyone in America should agree that it should be!

Part stereotype, part resentment, all ignorance.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like our status as one of America's best kept secrets.

Nice stuff here.

I know one theory I read about humanity a long time ago comes to mind. It talked about how the great protection and comfort of our lives have just plain weakened our tolerances for heat, cold, etc. It brought up an example whereby you took a group of people from today's day and age, and transported them through time to ancient Egypt, they probably wouldn't be able to survive very long.

I think all this moving to "easier" weather is just an extension of that thoery.

Cozy Coffee shops suck in hot weather.. nothing beats a warm cup of Java after walking the cold city with your camera!
If weather was the answer Toronto would be a crap hole. But it is not.
I like Buffalo a lot, and there is some AMAZING architecture there. Plus, how
can you not like a city that gave the world Buffalo Wings? I am just heading
out to get 2 lbs of them now, but wish I had the Anchor Bar here to do some
takeout!!

That, and our summers are glorious, more than making up for the winter, I believe.
^^ Definitely. Nothing get's me more flustered then when I tell a person in NC, especially the transplanted ones, that I want to move back to Upstate NY, and they say... WHY? The weather there is horrible. The dumbasses only see the harsh winters and somehwat lousy early springs; and don't see the other glorious half of the year with the perfect summers and picture perfect autumns. If you ask me I would MUCH rather have an enjoyable summer and a harsh winter, as opposed to the brutal summer and "less-harsh" winter (the south doesn't get nearly as much snow or get nearly as cold, but it definitely gets below freezing, and has 10x worse effect down here than it does in the North. Not to mention that the humidity down here makes the cold feel MUCH colder than it would up north) Think about it, Summer is the time of year that you WANT to be outside. For students college and public school students, it's the time of year when you don't have any school and are free to go around and stay out late and enjoy yourself. It's much better to do that when the temperatures are in the low to mid 80's than it is when they are in the mid 90's and up and have heat indexes in the 110's. The sunbelt transplants are wimps, and I tell my dad, who is one of those convinced that everyone is going to move south and that the north will never be seen as a nice place to live, every time I see him.

Buffalo looks like a great place to explore. As for the weather, I love the 4 seasons, thats why I am still living in southeastern MA!

Won't be long and we will have green buds on the trees, we will have calm 70 degree nights and like nothing I have ever seen...Buffalo comes from its' shell and turns into a really fun and wild city.

If global warming is really a problem...I don't think the "Enviros" are gonna get much help from Buffalo / Rochester...we would die for a 60 degree winter and palm trees. lol

lol Buffalo and Rochester are probably the two US cities outside of Alaska that feel the effects of global warming the most. Seriously. Last year they each had about 180 inches of snow, this year I know Rochester had less than 80 (lol, making that sound like a little when it is still 4 times the national average) and I imagine Buffalo had about the same.

Aaaah, great thread! I'm still kicking myself for being in Buffalo a couple months ago and not making time to explore the city a little bit. It was a very enjoyable trip, and I'm certain to make it back at some point! Keep up the good work B-flo!
^ hey I'll be in Milwaukee in August for a conference...I'll have to explore your city as well, I'm heard some good stuff about "Milli-walk-ay" (from Wayne's World II)...and I'm looking forward to it.
