By Request: Pittsburgh's South Side.

A forumer requested some pics of the South Side, so here they are. The first few pics are taken from above, while the remainder are at street level. The main street is E. Carson, which has a 20 block commercial district. This was once a very blue collar ethnic hood (eastern Europeans), but since the death of steel, it is now very much a college hood (Duquesne U.), and nighttime hot spot, though many retired ethnics do remain.

This looks like a much more "occupied" neighbhorhood thant much of Pittsburgh. A good mix of young and old almost always makes a great hood. There's Chevy Cobalt in that last picture' that's what I drive (only that one is an ugly ass red sedan, and mine is a silver coupe) It's a great little car to drive with awsome gas mileage. Just thought I'd share that lol.
Awesome. Beautiful. There's something about these scenes that have a small-town feel while being part of a major city. The architecture is awesome. The skyline shots are great.

Good stuff.

Better than all the pimped out Alero's I've been seeing lately.. WTF?!?! Let's try harder, kids! Has to be the ugliest little car I've ever seen...

Great pics, btw. Nothing sets up a photo thread quite like Pittsburgh skyline shots right off the bat, I might add.

Lots of bricks!

No, worse. Oldsmobile lol. The official vehicle of Florida.

I thought they were folded, and all of a sudden they're back.

Wait a minute, Bethlehem Steel is coming back! (yeah right)
may have to make it down to the Southside one of these days.
Some of those photo's make me want to cash out of my house here in Tampa and buy into a truly rich urban neighborhood like the South Side. I realy like the density and interesting mix of buidlings.
Nice deteriorating houses. I'm sorry, but I just think that houses like that are not good looking.
Yeah Toronto Boise. We know, if a house isn't in Canada, it's not nice.

They may not be your cup of tea, but there are very few deteriorating houses in those pics. Most of them look very well kept and cared for.
That last picture is perfect, way to go Pittsburgh (NFL Superbowl Champs).
