I have a booking for later in the year.
Should be fun.

From the Island website.

Cockatoo Island camping is a world first:

a waterfront campsite in the midst of a city
a campsite on a national heritage-listed island
a campsite in the middle of the world's most beautiful harbour
a campsite ten minutes by ferry from the centre of Sydney.
Enjoy a barbecue as the sun sets over the Parramatta River. Sleep under the shadows of dormant cranes and chimneys. Watch the sunrise over the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

A camping experience like no other.

Why are they calling this a first? :? There's been camping in the middle of Sydney for ages, along Oxford St especially.

I saw this on a travel show the other day, it looked cool. Is this the same island where the music festival is held??

So have they removed all the toxic crap over there?

Originally I thought they were going to make it into some kind of concert venue, there's like a massive unused warehouse (or more) in Cockatoo Is. At least it was there when I visited it 3 years ago

haha, I just rode around the Adelaide parklands and counted about 7+ campsites, however these are homeless people. Their tents look quite new actually, and a few groups had little camp fires, under the gum trees, by the little creeks. I was thinking I was in the Flinders Ranges for a second.
