The Canadian Parliament is better imo.

Never really liked the US Capital.
Both are massive, impressive, but lacking-in-imagination copies of European architecture. Canada is in a neo-Gothic style, while the US one is in the Neo-Classical one.

Again built to impress, but both lack originality.
Hardly surprising they are built on European models considering both were
ex-European colonies. I would have been surprised if they both were modeled
after igloos or tee-pees. I am biased, but prefer the Canadian; I am sure it is just because I am more familiar with it. I love both of them, though. Either
could win the competition here.

Well just because they were built on European models does not mean that they have to be such blatant copies. The Brits went about building a new parliament that was also just an imitation of neo-Gothic style but they a large element to make it unique. Yes Canada's parliament has a big clock, but it ain't a Big Ben.

That was my only point. I know WHY they were designed like that, to impress, not to be innovative. :)

I frankly find the Capitol in the US to be waaaaaaay to gaudy.
It is not an imitation of neo-gothic style... it is neo-gothic style. Neo
Gothic was an imitation of Gothic. I don't think the intent in the Canadian
buildings was to replicate Big Ben- the intent was to have our own interpretation. :)
I love the Parliament buildings, but the Capitol building is just more my style.
wow I didn't know the Canadian Parliament looked like this. I must say it looks way better than the US Capitol
picture of the capital is not working so i voted for it
whats with this guy? Talk about stirring up American-Canadian arugments.

Anywho...the U.S. Capitol is underrated. Its a beautiful building both inside and out.

The capitol building is good, but when you look at all the faces, and other architectural aspects on the Canadian parliament, it wins. And the pic there only shows the center block, not the east or west block.

The Library of parliament. (The only building that survived a horiffic fire)

West block

East block

I vote for the U.S. Capitol.
Both are fantastic buildings but, I feel the canadian parliament looks more like a university. Whereas the Capitol has a much more unique look and doen't look like it could be used for anthing else except government assembly.
I like the U.S. capital more, but probably only becuase I prefer that type of architectue more.

That is not surprising you would find that, as the architect was Scottish, so
I am sure there is similar architecture in your country.

The US Capitol building is gorgeous and majestic. I doubt if it is under-
rated by anyone who has seen it!
The outside of the Capitol is splendid, but I prefer the House of Commons and Senate Chamber of the Canadian Parliament to the interiors of the US Capitol. Parliament Hill really reminds me of the University of Toronto.

Canadian Parliament looks much nicer. Reminds me of Glasgow University -
