Everything in Canbra looks so much nicer from above than at street level. Even Wodz looks reasonable from any lookout.

Yeah, Canberra - great idea, and to an extent a great city, but just need 3x the amount of people in it.

Civic is just dead (street activity primarily).

Good photo series all-round. The more resi that gets built in and around Civic the better it should become at ground level, hopefully.

I think you might have mixed this photo up, maybe it's from Sydney or Newcastle? There are people on the street so definitely not Canberra.

Nice photo's mate. Just a shame that the western precinct of the city is abnormally lifeless. The only decent area's are on Bunda Street and just down the road from Mooseheads where Hoggsbreath and a few other restaurants/cafes are. You should have taken some photos inside the mall lol, then you would have seen thousands of people.

In Sydney, talk to young people about Canberra's CBD and you only hear one place - Mooseheads.

The big advantage of driving in central Canberra is the lack of traffic. :)

Plus I think it would be good if they had some small scale art galleries, theatres etc to bring a few people and the tourists into the CBD.

Canberra is dull, but I think it is a bit over maligned because these photos are always taken on Sundays.

There are certain sections of the city, particularly around Bunda St and the Cinema, which are actually quite busy. However the sections mostly shown in this set are from the west end, which has no retail and no entertainment.

These pictures were all taken on a Tuesday morning.

It was quiet in the first part of my walk around civc, but it was OK near the mall and shops. I had lunch in a basement food court and there were quite a few people around there. I'd like to see them lose the car park sections where I parked (last couple of shots), handy, but not the best look.

If you go to the Eastern part of the city around lunch time its actually really busy. Probably all the office people having lunch, but it can be a bitch to drive around there at those times.
