12 deaths daily in traffic accidents in Saudi!!!

saudi economic loss from traffic accidents is estimated at about 21 billion riyals annually=5,6 billion$

traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia 4.7%, while it did not exceed 1.7% in each of Australia, England and America

In the latest statistics on traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia indicate that the total road accidents that occurred in Saudi Arabia during 2002 reached 320 thousand car accident and incident rate of 820 per day to 86 a day, and 13 deaths

The Secretary General of the Shura Council, Dr. Saleh Bin Abdullah that the Kingdom spent on the four million car accident about 26 billion riyals, and added : "The Kingdom is at the forefront of the world in terms of human and physical attrition due to traffic accidents.

نيابة عن صاحب السمو الملكي الامير سلمان بن عبد العزيز امير منطقة الرياض افتتح معالي وزير الصحة الدكتور حمد بن عبدالله المانع مساء امس فعاليات المؤتمر التاسع لجمعية جراحى العظام لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي والمعرض المصاحب وذلك بمركز الملك فهد الثقافي بالرياض.
وقال رئيس الجمعية في كلمته التي القاها نائبه الدكتور مأمون قرملي ان هذا المؤتمر يهدف الى اثراء معلومات جراحى العظام في مجالات تخصصاتهم وتعزيز التزاماتهم المهنية لدعم المعرفة العلمية والعملية لهم والمساعدة في تطوير مهاراتهم من خلال تبادل الخبرات، مشيرا الى مشاركة نخبة من جراحى العظام في العالم في المؤتمر الذي يناقش 150 ورقة عمل.
وألقى معالي وزير الصحة كلمة أوضح فيها ان الملايين من البشر في جميع انحاء العالم يتعرضون سنويا للاصابة بمختلف امراض العظام التي تتطلب انواعا متعددة من العلاج الطبي والتأهيلي ويأتي العمل الجراحى في مقدمة هذه التدخلات العلاجية.
واشار الى ان اسباب امراض العظام كثيرة الا ان اهمها هو حوادث المرور المفجعة والتي تحصد الآلاف من الارواح البريئة حيث ان معدل حالات الوفاة المرورية بالمملكة هو 12 حالة يوميا وهي نسبة عالية جدا مقارنة بتجارب الدول المتقدمة لافتا النظر الى ان جامعة جون هوبكنز اجرت دراسة اشارت فيها الى ان معدل حوادث السيارات بالمملكة اعلى بكثير مما هو عليه في الولايات المتحدة الامريكية.

wow..sorry to hear that. :( i think we have the same prob here in malaysia.btw,may i know what are the main cause of traffic accidents in KSA.:?
hmm most of theme driving around 180-280km/h .it's normly thing see accident every day:(
Actually this applies to all the Gulf Area. We young people in the Gulf countries seem to think that being cool means driving fast and crazily. Qatar in fact has the world's highest road deaths per capita.... Its sad really that people loose there lives for no reason at all.
If this thread is going to have more traumatizing pictures (or videos) then I'm outta here!

What is the speed limit on common Sreet and highways in Kingdom actually?
12 deaths only? I think the number is waaaay much more than that, not to mention the poor teachers (men/women) who teach at the villages and get killed in road accidents :eek:hno:

P.S. ATTENTION to all new drivers in KSA:
stay away from most Hiluxes AKA "Waneets" <----They don't no how or where to drive
and stay away from most Camry owners <---they think they're driving Air jets

That's really horrible. But I don't know why drivers in Saudi are crazy about speed especially the young ones.
^^Halawala sed in qatar the same it's looks all Gulf country have the same problem!!!
these accident was in north beach that who make it sed he was driving around 80km/h<<:)blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: )and suddenly he see young boy in road then he left in lake side and flo on it!!!!!i dont get it his car was flo in back side how that???
