The Mask on the front page of that website Is whats replaced the Elephant Head.:eek:hno:

I wonder If there ever going to put the head back up or have gotten away with leaving It off.

It Is a grade 2 listed building so they should be putting It back up but It's been since February or March since the Casa Del Cocodrilo opened so whats taking them?:eek:hno:

The Higsons Brewery sign Is still there though. The Last owners took that down and replaced It one time with a wooden one and were forced to stick the original Iron one back up so hopefully the head will be back.

Not liking all these latin themed bars opening all over South Liverpool lately, except for Alma De Cuba, the History of the buildings are being wrecked or painted over like the old Masonic In Lark Lane.

Lol, quality bars and restuarants have never been missing from Woolton.
Shouldn't that be Nuevo Wooltonio ?

It is also the colour of the municipal wheelie bin. Nice touch.
It was a better paint job when It was the famous Elephant.

They'll look stupid when that elephant head has to go back up when they've named the bar marries of the crocodile.

They should of at least gave It an elephant name In Latin.

The article reads well but I shudder to think as I used to drink in the `Coach and Horses` and also the `Elephant` when in Woolton......

Still, I suppose times do change even when we don`t want them too and it`s not as if Liverpool hasn`t lost hundreds of pubs and clubs before only to be reborn in `Formica`.....although no one can generally accuse `Alma de Cuba` of being `Formica` and I haven`t seen `Santiago` or the others yet.

Don`t actually see why for they couldn`t go with the theme `Get drunk at the (Alma Da) Trunkata`.....Hic.
I wonder when the Elephant Heads going up as they said they were fixing the Head.
Rumour has it that the builders were not informed of the Head's inclusion in the listed status, and smashed it up when it went to the skip. Actually, it wasn't a runour, there was a letter in the Daily Post from somebody that witnessed this.
However, EH are probably too preoccupied thinking whether to lunch in Canal Street or St Anne's Square to notice.
Skip culture.....

What a shameful and idiotic thing to happen to such a locally loved piece of architecture, imagine if the `Royal Liver Buildings` is sold to to `Royal London` and they tried to take down the `Liver Birds`.....

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!

"there was a letter in the Daily Post from somebody that witnessed this."

Unless of course it left the skip and is now sitting in their back garden!
