New proposal for Adelaide. Residential building of 30 levels above ground.

Would be welcome height for the eastern end of town and so close to North Terrace.

This has been approved but no word if it will go ahead, it has been quiet for some time. However we have been lucky to see recent proposals come into fruition at arapid pace (Vue for example.) I love the design and can only hope this moves forward.

This proposal is now 40 levels and 132 metres.

"Realm Adelaide, a proposed residential luxury apartment project designed by award-winning architectural practice Elenberg Fraser, has been formally submitted to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure for approval.

Featuring a building form that links the past and the future, Realm Adelaide on Austin Street is set to become the tallest tower in Adelaide, rising 132 metres, spanning 40 levels, and offering 320 apartments in one, two, three and four-bedroom configurations. The project also offers two double storey penthouses and aims to bring the first five-star hotel-like lifestyle experience to the city through exemplary interior design and two levels of planned resident amenity, including a rooftop spa and wellness facility."

Some sections of Adelaide society (you know the "old school tie brigade" etc) will be in shock if this is built!

And quite rightly so, that is a TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE location for that horrendous edifice. Place it in the southern part of the city or anywhere except near Adelaide's premier heritage cluster.:eek:hno:

Adelaide's Proposed Next Tallest Building Submitted for Approval
Since 1988, the 31-storey Westpac House office tower has been the tallest building in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Though it doesn't even crack the top 100 of the country's tallest towers, its 132-metre frame has dominated the skyline. But a substantial revision to a pre-existing 29-storey proposal has been submitted to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure for approval, which could spell the end of Westpac House's skyscraping supremacy.

Have a good look at the render. There are no buildings surrounding this proposal that are of any architectural and or heritage value. Two old 1950s buildings shown here on North Terrace have now been demolished for a 21 level apartment building which will compliment this proposal.
