D&Access statement provides a decent render of the proposed building; also implies brand of hotel may be Sheraton?

Removing Central House / Gallaghers will open up vista onto Newc Building Society from Manors.
However it will also make the patch from New Croft House down to Carliol Sq stick out like a sore thumb.

Short of ulling it down and starting again, it cetainly looks a good proposal on paper

Astute point about the New Croft Centre having essentially a gaping wound at a key entrance to the city.

The CME is here to stay. It acts as a kind of moat around the cities eastern core, with the previous proposals acting as an enclosing wall, defending us from the roar and fumes of the motorway.

Whereas that sounds cool to a 1960s urban/ transport planner, it effectively destroys our routes and links from the city core and its eastern extents.

Long term, there should be new bridges and links over the CME to New Bridge Street and Manors to help stitch the city back together. However, with each proposal each side of the CME, chances diminish.

I do think that these proposals are really great, and is tackling one of Newcastle's weakest areas finally. But I really want to see a reconnection of NBS over the CME with a bit more thought and consideration, rather than some awkward cut out and replace junctions of paths and bridges.
