Considering that this is a separate development to The Square, it should have its own thread :)

R135 million Century City hotel to be completed by 2016
Published: August 5, 2014

Century City Hotel, a new 125 room hotel now under construction, is due to open in the Century City precinct in January 2016.

The hotel is being built at a cost of R135 million, and will consist of 115 superior rooms, five deluxe rooms and five luxury suites.

Located in Bridgeways which is destined to be the precinct’s new commercial hub, the hotel forms an integral part of a R1 billion mixed use development now under construction. Anchored by an urban square the development will also have a 900 seat conference centre with 12 meeting rooms and a business class lounge, offices, residential apartments, ancillary retail, showrooms and parking.

The Century City Hotel will be joined to the conference centre by a porte cochere and will face onto the urban square. Facilities will include a bar, a lounge, a deli and a restaurant, which will be complemented by other eateries in the immediate environment of the urban square. Numerous other restaurants and leisure facilities, including spas and gyms as well as the super-regional Canal Walk shopping centre, are within easy walking distance.

Guests will have access to a high speed wireless network system providing speeds of up to 50Mbs over the Century City Connect network. This will be available in the hotel as well as in the adjoining square and conference centre.

The development will have more than 1 300 bays in a parking basement as well as a parking garage. Security features will include RFID locks with access to bedrooms being controlled by smart devices.

Greg Deans, a director of developers Rabie Property Group, says that demand for hotels and conferencing facilities in Century City has grown significantly in recent years in tandem with the growth of the precinct, which now houses more than 500 businesses. When fully developed, Century City will be Cape Town’s second largest commercial precinct.

“This will be the sixth hotel in the precinct, which already has a total of 460 rooms that have been running at average occupancies of 73 percent over the past 12 months. Three of the existing hotels – African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa, the Colosseum Luxury Hotel and the Stayeasy, will all be within 350m of the conference centre.

“We expect the new hotel to appeal to conference delegates as well as to the broader business community, thanks to its location in the Bridgeways precinct which is destined to house around 150 000 m² of A-grade offices,” he says.

The architect for the project is Vivid Architects and Origin is the interior decorator.
