Since the other thread was locked (not sure why), decided to start a new one. Link to the old thread: https://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1715034&page=1

I went ahead and put the status as U/C since they are doing utility work and plus I don't have the privilege to change the title.

Developer Crescent Communities said construction on the 26-story building, at the former site of a Goodyear auto shop, is set to start in the first quarter of 2018. Ally plans to move in when construction is finished in 2021, along with shops, restaurants and a planned hotel.

At 378 feet tall, the building would be the 17th tallest in uptown, just behind the Charlotte Plaza office tower (Bank of America's headquarters tower is the tallest, at 871 feet).
Detroit-based Ally, which employs about 1,700 in the Charlotte region, has leased 400,000 square feet at the new tower, just over half of the building’s 742,000 square-foot total. The new building will be called Ally Charlotte Center.
The plan includes a 20,000-square-foot public plaza and 30,000 square feet of shops and retail. Leary said Crescent has been in talks with various chefs and restaurant operators.

“Now that we can give some definitive dates,” Leary said, “they can firm up their plans.”

The building will also include about 1,400 parking spaces. The interior of the tower will have 10-foot ceilings, large glass windows and the open floorplans favored by employers. Leary said the modern design, coupled with an emphasis on natural light, food and drink options, and nearby transit at the Stonewall Station light rail stop, will attract and retain tenants.

Also included: A 300-room hotel, visible in the left side of the company’s rendering, along Stonewall Street. Leary said they’re not ready to announce the hotel’s operator yet, but a national brand will develop and run the property.

When I saw this pic, immediately thought of this project. Will the final product look like this building in Philly (left)?

I am hoping for purple glass though.

Little update on the Hotel portion of this project. 350 rooms in 15-16 stories by White Lodging. I would guess that it will top out at no more than 200'

Dang,, that thing looks like an almost identical twin.
From the same article

The hotel is expected to open in early 2021, around the same time as the office tower.
flag has not yet been decided but it will be a "premium-branded, upscale" hotel with oversized rooms and suites as well as 20,000-plus square feet of meeting and event space, multiple food and beverage outlets, and an open-air rooftop deck.
Utility relocation is underway at the Ally Charlotte Center site and about six months of site work will follow. A tower crane is expected to be installed on the site by year's end, with most of the vertical development taking place in 2019.
I hope the alley between the parking deck and the tower will be better than Charlotte Plaza's...

I'm feeling a bit worried about Ally Center.....Crescent made a royal mess out of Stonewall Station.

Me too. But to be fair, Stonewall is their first uptown project so hopefully things will be better the 2nd time around.
If there are blank walls that need to be covered up, perhaps Crescent can add "living wall" like the one at Queen's University.

Crescent will be spending a boat load on art on both of their uptown projects. This is the inspiration for that alley way. Tons of art, tons of lights, lots to look at and explore, plus a healthy amount of retail. Stonewall Station will start to come together over the next few months as its finished. The massing isn't great, but when you have 300 hotel rooms, almost 500 residences and around 80,000 sq feet of retail total, you need a LOT of parking.

Construction is officially underway on Charlotte’s newest banking tower: Ally Charlotte Center, which is being built at Stonewall and Tryon streets.

Demolition and utilities relocation has been ongoing for several weeks, but general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie said Thursday that construction on the building itself has begun. The cost of the project was not disclosed.

Any thoughts on the hotel? Who might take the space?
