CHICAGO Trip (2/23/13) Pictures, Part 6: Day 4, Part 2 (Old Town, Gold Coast)

Here the the 7th (Day 4, Part 2) and final part of my great Chicago trip of Winter 2012. This part takes me through Old Town, Old Town Triangle, and the Gold Coast, as well as scenes from around United Center for my second Blackhawks game and other areas.

Without further ado, here we go with the last part of my Chicago trip!

The amazing St. Michael's Church in the Old Town Triangle District, Roman Catholic Church built in 1869, survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, but was heavily damaged. Was also the tallest building in Chicago from 1869 until 1885, when the Chicago Board of Trade building was built (now demolished)

Various scenes from around Old Town Triangle... Old Town was settled by Germans in th 1850s and was also where a lot Puerto Picans lived during recent times and is one of the best preserved neighborhoods in the city.

Chicago Historical Museum


Houses in Chicago's Gold Coast, just north of the Near North Side... this area grew after the Chicago fire. It is considering the second most affluent neighborhood in the United States behind only the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City.


The Gold Coast Historic District, featuring a fine collection of mansions, townhouses, and apartment buildings...

Scary thing is that in this building, an autistic boy tell from the 47th floor to his death, tragic. I heard on the Chicago news this trip
















This house is significant, because it is the house featured on the sitcom, "Webster" which took place in Chicago... from the second season on...

For some reason, I loved the interior of this place... probably because of its high ceilings...


Very fine seafood... Shrimp, Lake Michigan Salmon, and Asparagus...


Dessert... delicious Oreo Cookie pie with Peanut Butter and Chocolate/Caramel drizzling...


After dinner, passed by the Quigley Preparatory Seminary... Amazing building...

Took the Blue Line to the Illinois Medical District, which stopped near this historic building the former Cook County Hospital...






This building is famous because it has been seen in the 1993 film "The Fugitive", on "Punky Brewster", and was also the setting for the television drama, "ER".


This fine Beaux Arts building was built 1912 and currently sits vacant, awaiting redevelopment into offices...

Dallas added another goal to seal the deal, 3-1...


Dallas played well in the third and their goaltender helped immensely. Shame for the Blackhawks, played a marvellous first two periods. First time this year they lost when leading after two... ARGH! Oh well...


Back to the blue line, on Ogden Ave aka Historic Route 66...

Here comes the train, approaching Illinois Medical District, took me to the Red Line @ Jackson and to my hotel!


On my final day, before I left back for Detroit, got a picture of the base of the Allerton hotel...
