Road markings in less developed countries are more or less non-existent as there are traffic rules.

but it is not only africa, it is also in common in lots of asian and probably eastern european countries, and Italia.

Most important roads in Italy have good markings, especially toll motorways. But when I was in Sicily I noticed that the lack on maintenance was a widespread problem. And also driving standards are lower than in the rest of Italy and Europe.

Autoroute du Nord extension to Yamoussoukro will open on 10 December 2013. The new motorway is 86 km long.

Construction began yesterday on a 37 kilometer extension of the Autoroute du Nord. It will bypass the capital of Yamoussoukro and run to Tiébissou. It's due to be completed by 2019.

The construction of a 95 kilometer segment of autoroute between Tiébissou and Bouaké began today. The completion is due in 36 months (late 2021).

This is an extension of the 37 kilometer autoroute segment from Yamoussoukro to Tiébissou, which is planned for completion in 2019.
