The above images are from the architects website. They look a bit different from the render in the approved planning application. Presumably the design was dumbed down before approval, so take the above images with a pinch of salt.

This one seems to have stalled as it gained planning well over a year ago and the hotel was supposed to have opened by next year.
According to the City of London planning portal, it only received permission on the 30th of June 2014. I'm not sure why it took so long to come around for approval. As you said, they received the application on the 31st of January 2012.
