Update the windows, repoint the concrete, replace worn or defective cladding and finishes and fresh lick of paint- this building would look identical to much of the buildings recently put up around Downing Plaza and Helix.

We should never demolish for style's sake. We should only demolish if the building literally cannot used- beyond economic repair (like the Get Carter Car Park), or its use dramatically impinges on the practical existing use of the surroundings (Westgate House).

Maybe instead of this infill building, we should take a look at the hulking great brown mass of Eldon Square and ask ourselves what this building is doing to enhance and positively contribute to the quality and economy of our city centre. Is it an asset or a drain?

Let's not repeat the mistakes of the past. Let's look after our buildings so we create a patina and diversity to our streets, one that reflects life.

As said, replace the windows and update the ground floor and it'll be good. This building may not be to everyone's tastes but it sits well in its location and not exactly surrounded by an intact historic core.
