I thought I'd start a thread where people could query projects in the city that haven't officially been cancelled, just that a fair bit of time has passed with no word, to see if others have heard anything recently.

I'll start the ball rolling with -

Maro Development - Brunswick Quay

We lost the skyscraper, but what became of the scheme to develop the site with several smaller buildings? I seem to recall they were to have some kind of roof gardens? The reception to the buildings on here wasn't entirely warm as I recall, and not just because they weren't the soaring skyscraper we all wanted.

Great Howard Street Development

There was a scheme which I think may have been intended for that open land just past Stanley Dock on Great Howard Street where it was to be built down south, but the local council rejected it or something, so Liverpool was touted as the new destination. That was until the southern council decided they wanted it after all. A bit vague I know but I'm sure someone will remember it.

What about that big neptune statue that was going to be built in the Mersey a few years ago? Something in the back of my mind is saying it was given the go ahead but I may be wrong. I haven't heard anything on it for a while so i'm guessing it's been scrapped. Does anyone know?
The only information I can find on it is from this article - http://entertainment.timesonline.co...tainment/books/non-fiction/article2693889.ece - from last October. In passing it mentions that the project has been abandoned. Given the all the news in recent years regarding the new Floral Pavillion and the proposed Morrisons etc in New Brighton, with no mention of the statue, it seems that it has been dropped.

From 'The Press' in York -

City balloon plan still up in the air
By Mike Laycock

MORE than two years after top balloonist Per Lindstrand unveiled plans to give tourists a view of a lifetime from a tethered helium balloon 400 feet above York, the project has been grounded.

The company behind the ambitious project revealed today that it will probably now be another two years before it takes off - but insisted it will still eventually happen.

Jetville Ltd said the scheme had been shelved because it was part of a bigger, ongoing project in the city which was not yet ready.

However, a spokesman refused to identify the project, or reveal the prospective location which had been earmarked for the balloon base.

He said: "The balloon and the rest of the project work in perfect harmony, so I am therefore happy to wait.

"It will probably be another two years now, maybe 18 months at the most optimistic, but I am confident it will eventually go ahead and York will get this balloon."
More here - http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/mostpopu...wed.city_balloon_plan_still_up_in_the_air.php (Dated 5th June 2008)

It's the same company that was pitching the Liverpool balloon. It doesn't look hopeful if the situation in York is anything to go by.

Does anyone know what the state of play is with the tower at The Capital (aka the Sandcastle)? I know plans weren't very far along, but is this still on the back burner, or has it been extinguished altogether?

With Plot 3A done for, King Eddie's looking increasingly unviable (even before it's got planning permission), because of the state of the property market, and little movement on Shanghai, it would be nice to see at least one proposed tower for the CBD cluster still progressing.
