Coloane is the island South of Taipa. The two islands are nowadays connected by a large reclaimed area named Cotai, location of a frontier post to China.

Coloane is Macau's greenest area with human settlements mainly extending along the shoreline and very suitable for recreational purposes.

Seac Pai Van Park
The Islands Council on the western side of Coloane created this serene natural retreat. The park contains a Museum of Nature and Agriculture, a walk-in aviary, a vast collection of different trees and shrubs, a children's playground, a picnic area, the Balichão restaurant, and a laboratory that shares botanical information with others around the world.

Cheoc Van Beach
Cheoc Van occupies a bay on the south coast of Coloane Island, at the foot of Pousada de Coloane. The sea is clean and safe for swimming, canoeing, and windsurfing. Hence this is Macau's most popular beach. Equipment for the watersports is available for rent and there is a café serving drinks and snacks for the hungry.

Hac Sá Beach
This beach with fine black sand is located on the east coast of Coloane. There are barbecue pits, surfboards for hire, and one of Macau's most famous restaurants, Fernando's, available here. The Hac Sá Sports & Recreation Complex contains an Olympic-sized pool, tennis and basketball courts, and a children's playground. It is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. It closes at midnight on weekends.
