Designs ok. A bit plain and boring though. Just the same old block rectangle shape.
Agreed! Still can't expect more from a mid-scale property. Hope they'd find a good management company to operate this hotel.Designs ok. A bit plain and boring though. Just the same old block rectangle shape.
But far better than ridiculous shaped cinnamon life...:nuts: BTW I saw somewhere that Abans will going to build a hotel in Colpety. Any details about that????Designs ok. A bit plain and boring though. Just the same old block rectangle shape.
What's wrong with Cinnamon Life? It's a unique shape, and it at least looks like something an architect has designed, as opposed to half the buildings coming up now, which look like a civil engineer came up with the exterior design an hour before the plan had to be handed in. I for one like it. This is, as someone has already said, a boring block that'll just be one more unremarkable addition to the Colombo skyline. But far better than ridiculous shaped cinnamon life...:nuts: BTW I saw somewhere that Abans will going to build a hotel in Colpety. Is it the one at Colpity Junction? Or in Marine Drive? Its happening! Piling completed by Thudawe Brothers
Not bad for a 4 star hotel. Shangri-La on the other hand could have done betterDesigns ok. A bit plain and boring though. Just the same old block rectangle shape.
A 50 villa luxury hotel, most likely linked with Four Seasons. This from the same jap investors of the 447 building. They first announced this with the 447. Any idea on their project in Galle?
I believe its the Pearl Grand at the Colpetty junction. Damro is building a hotel on Marine Drive. Boutique hotels are a good concept. Macsons had built one and others are in pipeline. Is it the one at Colpity Junction? Or in Marine Drive?
Actually you contradict yourself. Cinnamon Life is infact designed not by an Architect but by renowned structural Engineer, who how ever likes to now call himself an Architect. He is Cecil Balmond former Deputy Chairman of ARUP UK, a SriLankan by birthWhat's wrong with Cinnamon Life? The irony here is that the architect himself is well-recognized abroad and has his own style. But Nuwan clearly knows better
Foreigners recognizing people of talent from our own country before we do is nothing new to us.
Balmond's actual job title is 'designer'. The man may have an engineering degree, but he's clearly a gifted architect too. What I was trying to say there wasn't to comment on Balmond's profession, but to draw attention to the boring cement block designs of some of the buildings we're seeing being built that look like an architect never came anywhere near the plans. I'm also aware Balmond is Sri Lankan, which is why I mentioned that thing about foreigners recognising people of talent from here before our people do.Actually you contradict yourself.
