I think they ar tring to maximize the L shape 5acr land ...:)
They could still do that without making the buildings look bad. Maximizing space is about the base of the building, no? Once you get that right, you can make the building look any way you want. I guess it costs more to hire architects for fancier buildings.

This is one reason why I cant wait to see Krrish Square- they're doing an all-glass building, and it'll be great to see in the middle of so many boring high rises in the city.

Access, China Harbour, S’pore Mustafa break ground for Marina Square in Colombo

Saturday, 30 June 2018 01:12

Marina Square, one of the largest condominium projects to be developed via a joint venture between Access Engineering PLC, China Harbour Engineering Company Lanka Ltd., and Singaporean retailer Mustafa’s Ltd., broke ground recently on a five-acre site in northern Colombo.

Walkers Pilling Ltd., a subsidiary of MTD Walkers PLC, was awarded with the pilling contract for the mixed-use development project. With 1068 apartments and over 36 floors across five towers, the development will be ‘perfectly pitched luxury’, an incorporation of all luxuries and conveniences that will hold high standards of services to the modern families seeking convenience in city living, or for budding investors pursuing high returns for their investments.

This development will consist of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom, and four-bedroom units, and duplex units with private garden areas along with a wide range of amenities, such as an infinity pool, a kids pool, a fully equipped gymnasium, BBQ pits, around two acres of landscaped garden area, a clubhouse, an indoor games room, a jogging track and a kids play area.

In terms of the surroundings, the development is located in close proximity to many recreational areas, National and International schools, state-of-the-art hospitals, food and shopping areas, and the upcoming Colombo International Financial City (Port City).

Promoters said the project offers prime real estate investment options as it is located in Uptown Colombo – the rapidly modernising locale of the Colombo harbour front.

With anticipated developments in Colombo within the next few years, such as the Colombo International Financial City (Port City) project, and the Port Access Elevated Highway set close to the project, Uptown Colombo is predicted to be the business hub centre and the highly desirable locale within the city environs.

Oh christ. CHEC and another block building design- wonder if this is going to be a repeat of the Shangri-La project. Other than the trees and the bases, these look like the government low-income housing projects.
How these Chinese Companies are getting those projects .Its Ok them to take Government Project funded by China .But Project like this ,Krish .This might lead our local companies to bankrupt .Companies like MAGA ,SunKen and Even ACCESS is working under CHEC .Ok Krrish is a bigger scale project but this one is just 5 blocks with boring look shape

That because they have huge economies of scale and low bidding price. locals can't compete with it. it is not happening only here, Malaysia, Singapore and most of Asia. in 80's it was Japanese had it, in 90's Koreans dominate it. now chines.you cant go agenst world trends. what we can do is , take advantage of it and build our cities and infrastructure as soon as possible. any delay in 5 years will cost us 2 times the current cost. just look at south-east asia, they have built their critical must have infrastructure by 2000. now they enjoying the cost advantage. those highways in Malaysia, Thailand ,taiwan, singapore were to build to day ...they will have a hard time.

once those chines become world reputed and mature , they will not bid for lower price. like what today japanies and korian do. bcoz thier cost factor has gone up due to respective countris living standreads. once china hit USD10000 GDP per capita , we will not going to get this discounts
