Guys any body knows about Bahrain Monument project? It’s nice and you can see the construction in sakhir Next to Sh. Hamad's Palace.

I have searched the internet to find more information about it but i couldn't find any thing except this tiny article:

"Work is to commence in January on the $15 million Bahrain Monument project, a testament to the Bahraini people's loyalty to king and country. A contract to build the monument, bearing the names of 200,000 loyal citizens, has been awarded to G.P.Zachariades. Consultant is Yousif Daoud Al Sayegh and Quantity Surveyor, Davis Langdon Arabian Gulf (DLAG).

You know what i always thought they should do...They should do something with the area between the two muharraq bridges, the water...like build a big monument...or a huge fancy fountain....wouldn't a fountain, like high far shooting water spray thingies with lights, be an amazing site for the cars passing on both bridges and the entire diplomatic area...!

Patriot, you thought like I thought, I always used to tell my cousin that if I worked in the tourism board, I'd do the tallest water fountain (taller than the one in Jeddah) between the two bridges, that would be great. They wanted that Iceberg project between the two bridges but the Muharraq Municipality rejected it.

Looks better than the original pic I've seen a year or so ago, looks Greekish in a way to me. Looks like they're doin a lot of work on it.

I hope this will really mean political changes, cause the Shiites don't seem happy at all and the current indications aren't promising at all. Things needs to be controlled before all hell breaks loose and we lose everythin.

Anyways, this thing is nice, Sakhir needs a revamp and it's really gettin one now.

It's a monument about the National Charter, has 200,000 names of ppl who voted for it. It'll have a museum plus other stuff to complement it like offices, cafeteria, etc. Should be ready early next year and it's located next to the horse track infront of a palace, not far from the BIC.

A BD5.7 million monument and cultural centre being built in Sakhir is more than halfway finished, it was revealed yesterday. The Bahrain Monument, which will include a lecture hall, library and museum, is now 55 per cent completed.

It is being built on an 8.45-hectare site and is expected to be ready by June of next year, said Prime Minister's advisor for legal affairs and project director, Jawad Al Arrayedh yesterday.

He was accompanying Works and Housing Minister Fahmi Al Jowder on an inspection of the project.

The two-storey building is being built to commemorate support shown towards reforms initiated by His Majesty King Hamad.

It will include an artificial pond surrounded by Coliseum-like seats, which can accommodate up to 2,400 people.

The structure will also feature laser technologies and a giant sundial, while the museum will contain historical documents.

There will also be an administration hall and cafeteria.

Mr Al Arrayedh said an area has also been allocated for staging traditional dances.

"We are also currently working on a car park, which can accommodate up to 240 cars," he said.
