Abu Dhabi company signs deal with Singapore's Fraser
Abu Dhabi-based Ali and Sons on Saturday announced a tie-up with Fraser Serviced Residences to build a 21-storey serviced residence on Shaikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
The mixed-use development with office and retail space as well as serviced residences is due to open in 2007.
Fraser is a global company based in Singapore. Ali and Sons is a leading company in the oil, gas, water and power sectors.
Ali Bin Khalfan Al Mutawa Al Dhahery, Chairman, Ali & Sons and Choe Peng Sum, Chief Operating Officer of Fraser Serviced Residences, signed the agreement. The former prime minister of Singapore and current senior minister Goh Chok Tong presided over the signing.
"We want to match a superb location with a mix of superb facilities, so we decided to appoint Fraser that has won numerous awards internationally for its service quality," said Al Dhahery.
"Fraser is new to the Middle East but they have what matters most in our market unparalleled quality and a philosophy of hospitality that is very Middle Eastern."
The serviced residence will be named Fraser Suites Dubai Internet City.
Fraser will offer a suite of services including recreation for the family.
"As a service residence, Fraser targets travellers on extended stay, anything from a week and longer. "We offer much more than a hotel room. We offer a home away from home with customised packages and a personal touch," said Peng Sum.
He said Fraser has won numerous awards in the countries where it operates and occupancy in their residences averages above 90 per cent in competitive markets such as London, Paris and Singapore.
"Fraser Suites will be a defining flagship for Fraser in the UAE and the Middle East. We are working with architects RSP Group of Singapore. It will have 158 apartments and penthouses that will take up the 23rd and 44th floors of the mixed-use development."

Fraser, a brand of gold-standard serviced residences with successes from London and Paris to China and Singapore, signed a contract to set up its first property in the United Arab Emirates with conglomerate Ali & Sons Co L.L.C.
The contract for technical services during the development phase as well as management services of the completed serviced residence, was signed today between Chairman of Ali & Sons. His Excellency Ali Bin Khalfan Al Mutawa Al Dhahry, and Chief Operating Officer of Fraser Serviced Residences, Mr. Choe Peng Sum (Family name: Choe). The former Prime Minister of Singapore, and currently the Senior Minister, Mr. Goh Chok Tong (Family name: Goh) presided over the contract signing.
