The 8

Inspired by cool, chic Miami style living, The 8's design is sophisticated and clean with a contemporary touch. Lightweight architecture and spaciousness are carried throughout the design, from the exterior focus on wide-open balconies to the airy and sleek interior where space is adorned with modern finishes. More art gallery than apartment, The 8 will be one of the Palm Jumeirah’s most distinguished addresses.

Featuring a variety of types covering two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments as well as signature townhouse and penthouse units, each floor plan has been meticulously designed, from the private gardens, entertainment decks and pools in the townhouses to the private lifts of the duplex penthouses.

Channeling its roots in fashion and glamour, The 8 has commissioned leading designer Kenzo Maison to provide select furnishings and accessories within the lobbies to add further to the grandeur of arrival at The 8.

Whether you prefer to spend your day lounging by the pool or snorkeling in the Gulf, our resort-inspired facilities offer something for everyone.

Kuwait's IFA picks Morgans to run new Palm Jumeirah hotel

IFA is surprising again. They managed to get Delano to Dubai. That is an amazing brand and definitely an asset for The 8 and the entire Palm.

New York-based Morgans Hotel Group on Monday announced its plans to link up with Kuwait's IFA Hotels & Resorts to build a hotel on Palm Jumeirah.

The companies will bring the Delano hotel brand to the Middle East with Delano Dubai which is scheduled to open in 2017 as the third hotel in the Delano portfolio.

Delano Dubai's 110-key deluxe hotel apartment property will be situated on Palm Jumeirah and will form part of a mixed-used resort development known as The8.

"Dubai is an ideal destination for us to debut our first Delano property in the Middle East," said Jason Kalisman, interim CEO of Morgans Hotel Group. "Delano Dubai's prime beachfront island location on Palm Jumeirah has a sleek contemporary design and upscale resort facilities which will attract an international clientele who embrace style, elegance and luxury."

The 110 apartments will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom units fully furnished and equipped to the highest standards as well as a Presidential Suite, he said in a statement.

"Managing this hotel with their specialist asset management and operational arm, IFA Hotel Investments, will enable us to benefit from their extensive experience in development and operations in this market, and allow us to work together to redefine Dubai's resort scene," added Kalisman.

The8 is currently under construction and will feature both Delano-branded hotel apartments as well as residential properties.

IFA Hotel Investments will oversee the asset management and operational aspect of the development. Launched in 2014, The8 has been architecturally inspired by elements of Miami's South Beach.

The8 will contain resort-style facilities including extensive water-sports, a gym, tennis courts, a signature beachfront restaurant, beach cabanas, barbeque and event areas, as well as dedicated amenities for young families.

"The selection process saw many international brands interested in the project and I am delighted with the final choice of the Delano brand, backed by Morgans Hotel Groups' expertise," said Joe Sita, IFA HI CEO.

Morgans Hotel Group is widely credited as the creator of the first "boutique" hotel.

As a courtsy to future IFA customers, there are threads on their other projects on this forum, so you can get feeling of what you can expect working with IFA.

Laguna Tower in JLT is one of more active ones, so feel free to check.

Someone has posted on the Laguna Tower website that IFA is having cash flow problems. So this may be a START STOP project that may take years and years to complete:bash:
I received an email from IFA last week and they told me land registaration documents for this project are ready to collect. So hopefully they keep staying on top of things for this project.

Update From IFA

THE8 PROJECT UPDATE - JANUARY 2016
We are very happy to report important progress at site and that the general contractor is meeting key targets and deadlines. Since our last update, The8 is now taking shape above ground and other significant progress is being made.

The8 has been divided into three main zones for the purpose of construction. We would like to update you on progress by zone, namely A, B and C, in addition to other keys achievements.
Zone A main activities include the completion of the 2nd floor structural columns and preparation of the 3rd floor slab work is underway. In zone A2, the 2nd floor slab has been casted and the columns are %85 complete. In zone A3 the second floor casting has started.
Zone B main activities include completion of the raft which has been casted, and basement columns are underway. In zone B2 the raft foundation is ongoing and the construction of the columns will commence post raft completion. In zone B3 works for raft casting and construction of the columns remains work in progress.
Zone C main activities include ongoing works for the ground floor slab casting and the columns in the basement are complete. Columns from the ground to 1st floors will commence before the end of January. Zone C2 slab is complete and columns to the 1st floor are ongoing. Zone C3 is most advanced with the 2nd floor slab casted and construction of the 2nd to 3rd floors is ongoing.

DEWA has approved the Power Design for The8 and they have released an NOC (No Objection Certificate) approving the drawings that were submitted. The general contractor will soon submit this NOC to local authorities and apply for a Power Construction NOC. This NOC is required before the building of the power infrastructure can commence. The same process is underway with EMPOWER, the local service provider of chilled water, and we will keep you informed of all progress made in this regard.
