Sadly NIMBY's will still say "no".love the look of the building... Sydney, might not be heading up but definitely moving more and more in the right direction in terms of pushing for well designed buildings..
Exactly - its about continuity and integrating both King Street Wharf and Barangaroo and Vice Versa.Look above you at the renders posted by upwards. Most likely the bars and restaurants will be along the harbour in this building, continuing the success of Kings Street Wharf to the south.
Also there is no way they will go for iconic designs with the apartment towers in order to ensure that the focus of the buildings is on Crown itself.^yeah, the 2 resi towers need to be simple but elegant.to finish off the barangaroo project.they dont need to be architectural wonders. the views from them is enough to sell most units.
But I think that could be done delibrately to ensure that the casino tower is the tower that stands out. They don't want the towers to have to compete with each other. Same approach as what they have done in designing the office towers.I'd like to see a bit of variation in the residential towers. While the AS + GG renders look great, I don't know if I want them to have the same materials as Crown. It would diminish the individual qualities of Crown itself and make it look like two architects were commissioned for all of the Barangaroo South talls (1 x Crown + resi and RSH&P for International Towers).
Perhaps we can build on what looks to be the success of the vertical gardens at One Central Park? At the very least, assuming AS + GG or Wilkinson Eyre win Crown, it'd be good to see some residential towers with hard edges that are distinctive from International Towers and Crown. Perhaps we could keep KPF on for the resi?
If I was in a facetious mood, I'd suggest commissioning a Sydney architect (of Barangaroo criticism notoriety) for kitchen fitouts.
If you want something to be publically accessible, you might as well build an observation deck atop Crown where the best views within Barangaroo will be found.^^
Would be nice if it's open for public though.
