Started a thread but no actual news.

Got my hopes up. :(
well soz but shouldnt be too long ;)
get excited
I was working across the road from this site today, the demolition team are making a huge
racket bringing the existing building down.

Being right down the spine of the city, surely there must be something interesting going up for the site?
Well... at least they're starting early. A high priority site.
Remind me: when are the new, less anâl FSR/height rules coming into effect?

You mentioned elsewhere, Cul, that developers are waiting for the new rules before making proposals public.

Oh WoW! just got censored for using a medical term!!! Let's see if I can get around that bit of pc immaturity.

I was surprised by the scale of what's being removed! Some of these places hold a place a heart! But time's arrow marches forward!

Sydney Metro will today release integrated concept designs for the Pitt Street Over Station Development (OSD).

Early indications suggest there will be two towers as part of the Pitt Street OSD, one above the Bathurst Street portal and another above the Park Street portal.

The SMH reports one site will have a 47 storey mixed use tower (possible hotel), and the other will be a 65 storey residential tower.

Conservatively estimating the heights:
- 1 x 47 storey mixed use tower with an average floor height of 3.5 metres = 165m.
- 1 x 65 storey residential tower with an average floor height of 3.5 metres = 228m.

Unfortunately no renders just yet.

Sydney Metro stations to include office, residential and hotels
Carolyn Cummins

Sydney's city and northern skyline are to alter once more with the construction of an office, residential and possible hotel towers on top of the new Sydney Metro stations.

The new sites are part of the NSW government's $20 billion Sydney Metro scheme, which will deliver a new train network across the metropolitan area.

In Pitt Street in the CBD, plans are understood to include two buildings: one a 47-storey mixed-use (potential hotel), and a 65-storey residential.

----

The Victoria Cross and Pitt Street stations have been chosen as locations where Sydney could replicate mass-transit-oriented developments such as Hudson Yards in New York and Paddington Station on London's Crossrail.

As the planning process only recently started, there are no details on who will develop, lease or occupy the commercial/retail site and hotel.

Commercial agents have said there is a shortage of hotel rooms and limited supply of new office space, due to the continual conversion to residential sites in the city and North Sydney.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said: "This was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalise Sydney for the future.

"Like metro stations around the world, stations on the new Sydney Metro system will be vibrant places and landmarks in their own right."

----

Sydney Metro program director Rodd Staples said work on the integrated designs could start while station construction was under way.

"Sydney Metro is more than just a world-scale public transport project – it's a defining city-building opportunity," Mr Staples said.

"This is an opportunity to build on the revitalisation Sydney Metro brings, creating truly landmark places and developments that showcase world's-best practice for transit-oriented developments."

Sydney Metro services start in the first half of 2019 on the Sydney Metro Northwest project, with metro rail to be extended in 2024 under Sydney Harbour, through the CBD and beyond to Bankstown.

Was the southern site on Pitt St - 65 storeys!

Still waiting for what will happen at Pitt/ Park St.
The image was up so quickly I cannot be sure but I thought the 65 storey tower was on Pitt & Park streets as the ANZ Tower was just behind it...I think.

Hint = can someone capture the image or at least post video of the item which some of you can do. [don't look at me!]

EDIT NO it's the Telstra Building - which explains why it looked so much shorter - so it's on Pitt & Bathurst.
