this should have a thread:cheers:
carter st precinct

Meriton group will aim for nothing short of a lifestyle haven as it launches the first stage of ‘The Retreat’ in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct this weekend.

The Retreat will have more than 1200 apartments and will be the developer’s biggest venture in a western Sydney presence that started decades ago.

The initial stage of the master-planned community will involve two elliptical buildings – the North tower, 22-storeys high,
will showcase uninterrupted city views and house the widest range of apartment choices in the area.

Those choices will include split-level loft-style designs, apartments with rooftop entertaining and barbecue areas, and penthouses with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and private rooftop entertaining terraces.

“The Retreat is all about green open space, recreation and leisure,” Meriton CEO Harry Triguboff said.

Mr Triguboff predicted prices will rise considerably by the time the project has reached full completion in the next five years.

Stage one of The Retreat has 149 apartments, some of them the biggest in the area, and they range from one-bedroom through to four-bedroom penthouses with rooftop terraces.

The apartments will start at $585,000 and peak at $2,800,000 for one of the split-level penthouses.

Stage one is expected to be completed by March 2019.

You really make a mess of these thread titles Cul - all you have to do is copy the format of the others!

I've fixed it up now. It's interesting that this development is technically in Lidcombe.
^sorry do that in future. yeh strange how its under lidcombe. i still see it as olympic park. its next to Quest and ibis budget which alot of people including myself stay when at aquatic centre.
It seems to be right across the street from the Athletics Centre. Perhaps the street that intersects the two is the boundary between Olympic Park and Lidcombe. Should maybe push it further to Parramatta Rd.

Although if anybody has been on Carter st, you feel more like you are in Lidcombe than Olympic Park. Just a busy back street with a lot of industrial buildings. But that will change soon enough.

Yes, I think it's odd too. You can see on this map where the suburb boundary line is (dashed pale blue line). So properties on either site of Edwin Flack Ave are in Sydney Olympic Park, but Carter St is well within the Lidcombe boundary. Maybe a tiny corner of the site is Sydney Olympic Park, where it meets Birnie Ave?:

^^

There is a huge contrast between Carter St and Edwin Flack Ave. Carter St is very much industrial. But the land around Carter St is now being consumed with high rise. Would make a lot of sense if they just pushed the border to Parramatta Rd. Once you cross Parramatta Rd you are very much in Lidcombe.

For 90% of people, these units are in Olympic Park. Although territorial disputes are very much a part of the fabric of Sydney.

Are they both the same height above ground? From the elevation one tower looks like it's got an extra floor or two because it's on lower ground?
