I stayed at my godmother´s place in Nørrebro which I think is one of the most interesting areas in Copenhagen. Went to Christiania as well - what an extraordinary place!FREKI said:I'm really happy you got out of the inner city where most tourists tend to stay
I'm more of a Frederiksberg guy myself, but Nørrebro deffinetly have some characterI stayed at my godmother´s place in Nørrebro which I think is one of the most interesting areas in Copenhagen.
Burn it... BURN IT!!!!! ( I hate that place, such a waste )Went to Christiania as well - what an extraordinary place!
Its the principle, hippies overrunning military property and the government allowing such behavior to a state where they can live tax free inside a city yet enjoy all the benefits other's work hard to have.. ( and the Christianian's are usually heavyly dependant on government heandouts )Why do you hate it? Such places are what makes cities interesting these days.
1 - Do the principles of private property mean anything to you?^To be honest I would much rather have a hippie community than a dull militsry base in my city. According to wikipedia the barracks were abandoned so I don´t see what the problem is.
And concidering the fact that the government refuse to allow the locals to revamp the area in order to clear it out when it´s run-down enough I have a hard time taking the gvernment´s side here.
They should pay taxes like everybody else though. How come they don´t?
Yeah. They should pay whoever owns the land. But I still don´t understand the hatred towards the place in this thread.1 - Do the principles of private property mean anything to you?
...2 - Are you simply a socialist?
The owner. But instead of destroying Christiania they should sort out this whole ownership row.3 - If a building is unused, who should be entitled to decide its future use - the owner of the building - or anyone else?
As I said I see the problem, but I think it can be sorted. I think it would be a stupid decision to flatten the place and replace it with a boring housing estate.4 - They may pay for water, electricity etc., but they don't pay rent for land or buildings. If anyone should be allowed to steal land from the state/community, or use a house free of rent, what kind of taxes would the rest of us have to pay?
Thanks.Nice photos, anyway
