Great photos, SuomiPoika! Glad you liked the city. From where did you take the picture of the Oresund Bridge?

I stayed at my godmother´s place in Nørrebro which I think is one of the most interesting areas in Copenhagen. Went to Christiania as well - what an extraordinary place!

Cheers for all your comments

Why do you hate it? Such places are what makes cities interesting these days.
Its the principle, hippies overrunning military property and the government allowing such behavior to a state where they can live tax free inside a city yet enjoy all the benefits other's work hard to have.. ( and the Christianian's are usually heavyly dependant on government heandouts )

A few years ago they even had a shopping street with drugs sold openly - hence the name "Pusher Street"

Even today in this time and age, people technically occupying military property are given a saying in the municipals planning for the area - that is just crazy if you ask me!

If people want alternative places they should pay for it like everyone else pays to get what they want..

^To be honest I would much rather have a hippie community than a dull militsry base in my city. According to wikipedia the barracks were abandoned so I don´t see what the problem is.

And concidering the fact that the government refuse to allow the locals to revamp the area in order to clear it out when it´s run-down enough I have a hard time taking the gvernment´s side here.

They should pay taxes like everybody else though. How come they don´t?

1 - Do the principles of private property mean anything to you?

2 - Are you simply a socialist?

3 - If a building is unused, who should be entitled to decide its future use - the owner of the building - or anyone else?

4 - They may pay for water, electricity etc., but they don't pay rent for land or buildings. If anyone should be allowed to steal land from the state/community, or use a house free of rent, what kind of taxes would the rest of us have to pay?

5 - What if someone build their own house in YOUR backyard (assuming you own this backyard)?

- Nice photos, anyway :) :)

Yeah. They should pay whoever owns the land. But I still don´t understand the hatred towards the place in this thread.

...

The owner. But instead of destroying Christiania they should sort out this whole ownership row.

As I said I see the problem, but I think it can be sorted. I think it would be a stupid decision to flatten the place and replace it with a boring housing estate.

Nice photos, anyway :) :)
Thanks.
