Corporate Run

Did anyone else participate? It was awe inspiring to see a mass of humanity (about 20,000 people) snaking through downtown like that. Some things I learned: Coral Way from Brickell to SW 2nd Ave is uphill, you never know these things until you run them. Also that I never liked the site of 50 Biscayne as much as I did when it was beacon straight ahead as you run down NW 1st Street 3 miles into the race.

I'm sure the view from the Vue or One Miami or even the Loft must have been pretty amazing.

The Miami Herald gallery from the run. (Check out pic #10, ever seen so many people on Biscayne Blvd?).

I think the Heat victory parade had more people but 20,000 is no joke either. Right now, I'm packing my stuff for a 4 or 5 day visit to Miami and I'm bringing my camera. Hopefully, the weather will be good and I'll get a lot of pics.

I was there! I did it in 27:40. Pretty slow, I didn't pace myself well and got wiped out around half way through!

Better than me! I clocked in at 37:30. I ran some, walked some. Woefully out of shape. Unfortunately the threat of tripping over my fellow racers kept my eyes from wandering too far up.

Hey, you fellas may consider those times "slow" but just accomplishing something like that is VERY impressive. Kudos!

You just beat me. I bet we ran together for most of the way and didnt even know it. I came in at 37:55. Well that was 37:55 by the clock that was there, which adds on all the time it takes just to get to the starting line. It was pretty tough with walkers clogging up the way.

I couldn't help but imagine that this is what downtown would look like (for better or worse) with a baseball stadium. It's a dream I know. I've been around plenty of times during heat games where cars outnumbers people, but I can dream.

Oh yeah! Hate to miss it! Last year the course went over the Dodge Island bridge to the Royal Carribean HQ and back to Bayside...talk about a tough bridge to climb!!!! 26:45 then.
This year, much slower because I ran in a pack of co-workers, but we crossed in 34:30.
James, the key is starting at the start methinks! Tons of people moving slow, and just like I-95, they don't comprehend that slower traffic must keep right!!!!!!

I'll bet that race inspired at least 20 new condo sales...it was fantastically beautiful what was happening both with our skyscrapers and the commerical infill along 2nd Avenue. 50 Biscayne did look great (pull that from the Roark told you so a year ago file!)
There were so many smiles and happy people at that event, it was what civic pride is all about.

Next year, let's have Chuck splash a shirt with icons, and have RX put in some type in all CAPS and have a Skyscraper City team run this mutha....

Roark. LOL, about the shirt!

I think last year, the course was similar, but the year before that it went over to the Port.
